  1. 1. Evaluation of a Miniaturized Rotating Disk Apparatus for In Vitro Dissolution Rate Measurements in Aqueous Media : Correlation of In Vitro Dissolution Rate with Apparent Solubility

    Author : Anita M. Persson; Curt Pettersson; Anders Sokolowski; Anders Karlsson; Alex Avdeef; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; analytical methods; HPLC high-performance liquid chromatography ; miniaturization; in vitro dissolution rate; apparent solubility; physicochemical properties; dissolution media; correlation study; chemometrics; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to evaluate a newly designed and constructed miniaturized rotating disk apparatus for in vitro dissolution rate measurements of different drug substances from all of the classes in the Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS). The new equipment is based on a low volume flow-through cell of Plexiglas, a gold plated magnetic bar and a special designed press. READ MORE

  2. 2. Novel and refined small-scale approaches to determine the intrinsic dissolution rate of drugs

    Author : Sara B. E. Andersson; Göran Alderborn; Göran Frenning; Peter Langguth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dissolution; intrinsic dissolution rate; poorly water-soluble compounds; single particle dissolution; solubility; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : Many drugs are administered as crystalline particles compressed into tablets and taken orally. When the tablet reaches the gastrointestinal tract, it disintegrates and the drug particles dissolve in the gastrointestinal fluid. The dissolved molecules are absorbed across the intestinal membranes into the bloodstream to reach their target sites. READ MORE

  3. 3. Radiation Induced Oxidative Dissolution of UO2

    Author : Ella Ekeroth; Mats Jonsson; Bernd Grambow; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radiation; radiolysis; UO2; spent nuclear fuel; radicals; oxidants; reductants; rate constants; dissolution; H2O2; H2; Nuclear chemistry; Kärnkemi;

    Abstract : Sammanfattning Denna doktorsavhandling berör oxidativ upplösning av UO2 (som modellsubstans för utbränt kärnbränsle) orsakad av radiolys av vatten samt effekten av H2 på denna denna process. Hastighetskonstanter för oxidation av UO2-pulver med olika oxidanter såsom H2O2 har bestämts experimentellt. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of radiolysis on the dynamics of UO2-dissolution

  5. 5. A surface approach to understanding the dissolution of fluorite type materials : Implications for mineral dissolution kinetic models

    Author : José Ricardo Assunção Godinho; Sandra Piazolo; Andreas Lüttge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dissolution; topography; fluorite; surface; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Abstract : Traditional dissolution models are based in the analyses of bulk solution compositions and ignore the fact that different sites of a surface dissolve at different rates. Consequently, the variation of surface area and surface reactivity during dissolution are not considered for the calculation of the overall dissolution rate, which is expected to remain constant with time.
