  1. 16. Union-Fertility Nexus and Fertility Variation in Sub-Saharan Africa : The Role of Marital Dissolution and Repartnering

    Author : Ben Malinga John; Elizabeth Thomson; Gunnar Andersson; Natalie Nitsche; Myrskyla Mikko; Monica Grant; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; fertility; fertility transition; marriage; marriage formation; marital dissolution; repartnering; Sub-Saharan Africa; demographic methods; sociologisk demografi; Sociological Demography;

    Abstract : The role of marital dissolution and repartnering in shaping fertility patterns in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) has been largely overlooked, even though marital dissolution and repartnering are fundamental features of marriage dynamics in this region. This dissertation addresses this gap by using existing statistical and demographic techniques and developing new demographic methods to (i) examine the relationship between union dissolution and fertility at the micro level (Study I); (ii) assess the dynamics of union dissolution, including the levels of all-cause first union dissolution, the timing of first union dissolution, and the reproductive years spent outside of marriage due to union dissolution (Studies II & III); and (iii) analyze the influence of marital dissolution and repartnering on macro fertility patterns in SSA (Study IV). 2. 17. Cellulose Dissolution and Amphiphilicity : Insights on the Emulsion Formation and Stabilization

    Author : Carolina Costa; Magnus Norgren; Håkan Edlund; Orlando Rojas; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : An amphiphilic polymer is expected to adsorb at the oil-water interface and be capable of stabilizing emulsions. Cellulose derivatives, cellulose nanoparticles and regenerated cellulose particles show an intrinsic amphiphilic character by self-assembling at oil-water interfaces and stabilizing emulsions without the aid of surfactants or any other co-stabilizers. 4. 19. Characterization and Dissolution of HEV NiMH Batteries

    Author : Kristian Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Materials Recycling; Nickel tetracarbonyl; Selective dissolution; Nickel metal hydride; Characterization; Mond; Batteries;

    Abstract : The recycling of batteries is an important issue in a sustainable society where materials recycling of complex products is a necessity. Without an efficient recycling there will be an unnecessary loss of both materials and energy due to inefficient or non-existent recycling. READ MORE

  5. 20. Radiation induced dissolution of model compounds for spent nuclear fuel : mechanistic understanding of oxidative dissolution and its inhibition

    Author : Sara Nilsson; Mats Jonsson; Lara Duro; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis is focused on radiation induced oxidative dissolution of UO2, Pd-doped UO2, SIMFUEL (as model substances for spent nuclear fuel) and UN (a possible future fuel) and inhibition of the oxidative dissolution. H2O2 is assumed to be the most important oxidant for spent nuclear fuel dissolution under deep repository conditions. READ MORE
