  1. 1. Generalization under Model Mismatch and Distributed Learning

    Author : Martin Hellkvist; Ayca Özcelikkale; Anders Ahlén; Martin Jaggi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine learning; Signal processing; Generalization error; Training error; Double-descent; Double descent; Distributed learning; Distributed optimization; Learning over networks; Model mismatch; Model misspecification; Fake features; Missing features; linear regression; regularization; Machine learning; Maskininlärning;

    Abstract : Machine learning models are typically configured by minimizing the training error over a given training dataset. On the other hand, the main objective is to obtain models that can generalize, i.e., perform well on data unseen during training. READ MORE

  2. 2. Distributed Detection in Cognitive Radio Networks

    Author : Ahti Ainomäe; Mats Bengtsson; Tõnu Trump; Olav Tirkkonen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cognitive Radio; distributed estimation; distributed detection; Diffusion LMS; Diffusion Networks; Adaptive Networks; Spectrum Sensing; Energy Detection; Random Matrix; Largest Eigenvalue Detection.; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : One of the problems with the modern radio communication is the lack of availableradio frequencies. Recent studies have shown that, while the available licensed radiospectrum becomes more occupied, the assigned spectrum is significantly underutilized. READ MORE

  3. 3. Scalable and Reliable Data Stream Processing

    Author : Paris Carbone; Seif Haridi; Peter Pietzuch; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; distributed systems; stream processing; data management; databases; distributed computing; data processing; fault tolerance; database optimisation; programming systems; data science; data analytics; computer science; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : Data-stream management systems have for long been considered as a promising architecture for fast data management. The stream processing paradigm poses an attractive means of declaring persistent application logic coupled with state over evolving data. READ MORE

  4. 4. Systems with Massive Number of Antennas: Distributed Approaches

    Author : Jesús Rodríguez Sánchez; Integrerade elektroniksystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Massive MIMO; Large Intelligent Surface LIS ; distributed processing; algorithm-architecture codesign; equalization; inter-connection data-rate;

    Abstract : As 5G is entering maturity, the research interest has shifted towards 6G, and specially the new use cases that the future telecommunication infrastructure needs to support. These new use cases encompass much higher requirements, specifically: higher communication data-rates, larger number of users, higher accuracy in localization, possibility to wirelessly charge devices, among others. Abstract : Much like a backwards computed Sudoku puzzle, starting from the completed number grid and working ones way down to a partially completed grid without damaging the route back to the full unique solution, this thesis tackles the challenges behind setting up a number puzzle in the context of biomedical imaging. By leveraging sparse signal processing theory, we study the means of practical undersampling of positron emission tomography (PET) measurements, an imaging modality in nuclear medicine that visualises functional processes within the body using radioactive tracers.
