  1. 21. Distributed Photovoltaics, Household Electricity Use and Electric Vehicle Charging : Mathematical Modeling and Case Studies

    Author : Joakim Munkhammar; Joakim Widén; Ewa Wäckelgård; Jesper Rydén; Peter Lund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Distributed Photovoltaics; Household Electricity Use; Electric Vehicle Charging; Markov Chain Modeling; Probability Distribution Modeling; Data Analysis; Self-Consumption; Grid Interaction.; Engineering Science; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : Technological improvements along with falling prices on photovoltaic (PV) panels and electric vehicles (EVs) suggest that they might become more common in the future. The introduction of distributed PV power production and EV charging has a considerable impact on the power system, in particular at the end-user in the electricity grid. READ MORE

  2. 22. Physico-Chemical Properties of Plant Polysaccharides Investigated with NMR Techniques

    Author : Åsa Östlund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR diffusometry; Dissolution of cellulose; Chemical shift imaging; Fiber hornification; Xylan; Molecular weight; Pore size distribution; Cryoporometry; Cellulose solution; 19F NMR; Gelation of cellulose; Self-diffusion; Pulsed field gradient NMR; TBAF DMSO; 1H NMR;

    Abstract : In the lead of developing new biomaterials from plant sources it is of importance to be able to control and vary the properties, such as flexibility, strength, and hygroscopicity of the final material. These properties are highly directed by the interactions between constituents on a molecular level. READ MORE

  3. 23. Physicochemical properties of root fiber suspensions. A comparison between parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) and yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius)

    Author : Alejandra Castro; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; physicochemical properties; parsnip; yacon; plant suspensions; particle size distribution; rheology; fructans; dietary fiber;

    Abstract : The physicochemical properties of two root suspensions, parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) and yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius), were studied and compared at different concentrations and after being subjected to processes such as homogenization and heating. The study and the evaluation of the physicochemical properties of these plant materials in the form of pastes might help to increase the interest in these two roots, and possibly encourage their further industrial use. 4. 24. Improving physical flows in biomass-to-energy supply chains by means of pre-treatment technology and coordination

    Author : Martin Svanberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pre-treatment technology; torrefaction and coordination; supply chain; biomass-to-energy; physical flow; logistics;

    Abstract : AbstractThe transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy sources such as biomass-to-energy (B2E) is an environmentally sustainable pathway. However, increased use of biomass is hampered by the high costs of logistics activities within the physical flow. READ MORE

  5. 25. Making standards work : case studies of social and environmental standards in the clothing and catering supply chains

    Author : Ingrid Stigzelius; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Social and environmental standards can function as tools for companies that want to improve their conduct in social and environmental areas in the supply chain. However, relatively little attention has been given to how the adoption of social and environmental standards may influence the actual business practices in the supply chain. READ MORE
