  1. 16. Vulnerability analysis of electric power delivery networks

    Author : Åke Holmgren; KTH; []
    Keywords : Infrastructure; Networks; Risk Analysis; Vulnerability;

    Abstract : Disturbances in the services provided by the infrastructuresystems—e.g. electric power supplies and communications—can have serious implications for everyday life,economic prosperity and national security. The disturbances canbe initiated by natural disasters, adverse weather, technicalfailures, human errors, sabotage, terrorism or acts of war. READ MORE

  2. 17. Digital Content Networks : The Past, the Present and Decentralizing

    Author : Tommo Reti; Marko Turpeinen; Nils Enlund; Jussi Kangasharju; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information technology; Informationsteknik; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a solution-oriented analysis of current issues in digital content distribution management and content networks. The findings support the view that the recent development in the area has created a few congestion points, both in content distribution and content business, that gather increasing technical, social, financial, and political influence in the world. 3. 18. Towards content distribution in opportunistic networks

    Author : Thabotharan Kathiravelu; Arnold Pears; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot datorkommunikation; Computer Science with specialization in Computer Communication;

    Abstract : Opportunistic networking is a new communication paradigm. Content Distribution in opportunistic networks is challenging due to intermittent connectivity, short connection durations and a highly dynamic topology. Research is needed to develop new applications and protocols that can distribute content in opportunistic networks. READ MORE

  4. 19. Planning Models for Single Wire Earth Return Power Distribution Networks

    Author : Geofrey Bakkabulindi; Lennart Söder; Mikael Amelin; Peiyuan Chen; KTH; []
    Keywords : Rural electrification; power distribution planning; Single Wire Earth Return; distribution power flow; power system modeling; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : The high cost of grid extension to rural areas, often characterized by scattered communities with low load densities, requires the use of low cost electrification technologies to ensure economic viability. In Single Wire Earth Return (SWER) power distribution networks, the earth itself forms the current return path of the single phase system leading to significant cost savings on conductors, poles and poletop hardware compared to conventional systems. 5. 20. Opportunistic Content Distribution : Feasibility, Design and Performance Evaluation

    Author : Ólafur Helgason; Gunnar Karlsson; Cecilia Mascolo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : Originally, the main purpose of the wired Internet was to interconnect hosts on different networks in order to allow them to communicate. Although this is still an important service, the Internet has evolved and today its predominant application is to provide its users with access to contents. READ MORE
