1. Combined experimental and theoretical studies of dithiocarbamate complexes of yttrium, lanthanum and bismuth
Abstract : Metal-dithiocarbamate complexes find wide-ranging applications in nanomaterial and metalseparation science, and have potential use as chemotherapeutic, pesticides, and as additives tolubricants. A highly versatile dialkyldithiocarbamate (R2NCS2–) ligand can form stablecomplexes with all the transition elements and also the majority of main group, lanthanide andactinide elements. READ MORE

3. A study of the stereochemistry and electronic transitions of cyclic and acyclic thioamides by crystallography, spectroscopy and computational methods
Abstract : Analysis of conformations and electron transitions of 3-(alkyl or aralkyl)-5-(methyl or phenyl)rhodanines with analogues and N,N'-bis[(S)-1-phenylethyl]-thiourea have been performed by X-ray crystallography, 1H NMR, molecular mechanics, ultraviolet spectroscopy and for the chiral rhodanines, enantiomer chromatography and circular dichroism spectroscopy. The magnitude of rotational barriers has been determined. READ MORE

4. Novel boron compounds in lubrication
Abstract : Lubricants are used to control friction and reduce wear by preventing direct contact between surfaces in a relative motion. Most of the modern lubricants and lubricant additives have been designed and optimized for ferrous materials. READ MORE

5. Genotoxic hazards in the rubber industry : application of short-term tests in work environment analyses
Abstract : Excess mortality from a number of different types of cancer has been associated with work in the rubber industry. The aim of the present study - using short-term tests for mutagenicity - was to identify potentially hazardous additives and process fumes to which workers are exposed. READ MORE
