  1. 1. Dating Divergence Times in Phylogenies

    Author : Cajsa Lisa Anderson; Kåre Bremer; Katleen M. Pryer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; systematic biology; divergence time; nonprametric rate smoothing; Bayesian; multidivtime; eudicots; Neoaves; monocots; dating; molecular clock; relaxed clock; age constraint; fossil; calibration; PATHd8; penalized likelihood; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns different aspects of dating divergence times in phylogenetic trees, using molecular data and multiple fossil age constraints.Datings of phylogenetically basal eudicots, monocots and modern birds (Neoaves) are presented. Large phylograms and multiple fossil constraints were used in all these studies. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Estimating Topology and Divergence Times in Phylogenetics

    Author : Bodil Svennblad; Allan Gut; Tom Britton; Thore Egeland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical statistics; Phylogenetics; Divergence Time; Likelihood based methods; Non-informative prior; bootstrap support; Matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis consists of an introduction and five papers, dealing with statistical methods in phylogenetics.A phylogenetic tree describes the evolutionary relationships among species assuming that they share a common ancestor and that evolution takes place in a tree like manner. 3. 3. Marsupial Mitogenomics

    Author : Maria Nilsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; Biologi; Biology; divergence times; K T-boundary; phylogenetic reconstruction; Ameridelphia; Australidelphia; Notoryctes; Dromiciops; Marsupialia; mitochondrial genomes; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : The relationships of the mammalian infraclass Marsupialia have been investigated by phylogenetic analysis using completely sequenced mitochondrial genomes. The organisation and structure of the marsupial mitochondrial genomes deviates from the general mammalian structure. READ MORE

  4. 4. Molecular Phylogenetics of Mammals

    Author : Morgan Kullberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; EST; divergence times; phylogenomics; phylogenetic reconstruction; Mammals; Eutheria; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the phylogenetic relationships of the Mammalia have been studied at various levels. Different sources of genetic information have been evaluated and used as phylogenetic markers. These include the well-known mitochondrial genome, cDNA from housekeeping genes and expressed sequence tags from nuclear genes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Rough starts and tough times : geographies of workers and firms in transition

    Author : Therese Danley; Rikard Eriksson; Urban Lindgren; Emma Lundholm; Neil Lee; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; agglomerations; job matching; human capital; plant closure; firm survival;

    Abstract : Economic change can lead to multiple and sometimes conflicting outcomes for workers, employers, and regions. At the center of economic change are the dynamic interactions among diverse workers and firms in specific labor market contexts. READ MORE
