  1. 1. Artificial Intelligence for Non-Contact-Based Driver Health Monitoring

    Author : Hamidur Rahman; Mobyen Uddin Ahmed; Shahina Begum; Peter Funk; Hasan Fleyeh; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Driver Monitoring; Artificial Intelligence; Machine Learning; Deep Learning; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : In clinical situations, a patient’s physical state is often monitored by sensors attached to the patient, and medical staff are alerted if the patient’s status changes in an undesirable or life-threatening direction. However, in unsupervised situations, such as when driving a vehicle, connecting sensors to the driver is often troublesome and wired sensors may not produce sufficient quality due to factors such as movement and electrical disturbance. 2. 2. Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Enhancing Transparency in Decision Support Systems

    Author : Mir Riyanul Islam; Mobyen Uddin Ahmed; Shahina Begum; Kerstin Bach; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Artificial Intelligence (AI) is recognized as advanced technology that assist in decision-making processes with high accuracy and precision. However, many AI models are generally appraised as black boxes due to their reliance on complex inference mechanisms. READ MORE

  3. 3. The economics of residual waste : policies, price discrimination, and welfare

    Author : Sef Meens-Eriksson; David Granlund; Runar Brännlund; Thomas Broberg; Raymond Gradus; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Waste economics; net social cost analysis; waste incineration; municipal waste policy; waste taxes; price discrimination; spatial competition; welfare effects; Economics; nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : Paper [I]: In this study, a net social cost framework is applied to provide insights on policy issues relating to the cross-border trade in waste fuel. We estimate the net social cost of using imported waste fuel in a highly efficient combined heat and power plant (CHP) in a cold climate by considering both private costs and benefits as well as external costs related to energy production, alternative waste management and fuel transport. 4. 4. A Safety-centered Planning-time Framework for Automated Process Compliance Checking

    Author : Julieth Patricia Castellanos Ardila; Barbara Gallina; Faiz UL Muram; Ricardo Colomo Palacios; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Automated Compliance Checking; Safety-critical Systems; Process Reference Models; Industry Standards; Formal Contract Logic; SPEM 2.0.; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Safety-critical systems, whose failure could lead to catastrophic consequences, are everywhere. Not only environments with high-risk functions, e.g., nuclear power plants, are safety-critical systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Facilitating Automated Compliance Checking of Processes against Safety Standards

    Author : Julieth Patricia Castellanos Ardila; Barbara Gallina; Faiz UL Muram; Rory O'Connor; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Automated Compliance Checking; Safety-critical Systems; Safety Standards Formalization; Safety Processes; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : A system is safety-critical if its malfunctioning could have catastrophic consequences for people, property or the environment, e.g., the failure in a car's braking system could be potentially tragic. To produce such type of systems, special procedures, and strategies, that permit their safer deployment into society, should be used. READ MORE
