  1. 11. Multilingual text generation from structured formal representations

    Author : Dana Dannélls; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coherence; computational linguistics; coreference; corpus linguistics discourse structure; knowledge representation; language technology; lexical semantics; linked open data; multilingual natural language generation; natural language processing; ontology; semantic web.;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to identify the optimal ways in which natural language generation techniques can be brought to bear upon the problem of processing a structured body of information in order to devise a coherent presentation of text content in multiple languages. We investigate how chains of referential expressions are realized in English, Swedish and Hebrew, and suggest several coreference strategies that can be used to generate coherent descriptions about paintings. 2. 12. Spatial domain methods for orientation and velocity estimation

    Author : Gunnar Farnebäck; Gösta Granlund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : In this thesis, novel methods for estimation of orientation and velocity are presented. The methods are designed exclusively in the spatial domain.Two important concepts in the use of the spatial domain for signal processing is projections into subspaces, e.g. READ MORE

  3. 13. Text Representations and Explainability for Political Science Applications

    Author : Denitsa Saynova; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Political Science; Explainability; NLP; Representation;

    Abstract : This work explores the utility of natural language processing approaches for the study of political behavior by examining two main aspects - representation and explainability. We investigate how current representation approaches capture politically relevant signals in a proportional representation system. READ MORE

  4. 14. Hybrid Methods for Computational Electromagnetics in Frequency Domain

    Author : Stefan Hagdahl; Björn Engquist; Lars Pettersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Maxwell s equations; Geometrical Theory of Diffraction; Smooth Surface Diffraction; Boundary Element Method; Hybrid methods; Electromagnetic Scattering; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : In this thesis we study hybrid numerical methods to be used in computational electromagnetics. The purpose is to address a wide frequency range relative to a given geometry. We also focus on efficient and robust numerical algorithms for computing the so called Smooth Surface Diffraction predicted by Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (GTD). READ MORE

  5. 15. It’s About Time : User-centered Evaluation of Visual Representations for Temporal Data

    Author : Kahin Akram Hassan; Niklas Rönnberg; Christian Tominski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The primary goal for collecting and analyzing temporal data differs between individuals and their domain of expertise e.g., forecasting might be the goal in meteorology, anomaly detection might be the goal in finance. READ MORE
