  1. 1. Advanced nano- and microdomain engineering of Rb-doped KTiOPO4 for nonlinear optical applications

    Author : Charlotte Liljestrand; Carlota Canalias; Sunao Kurimura; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; KTiOPO4; nonlinear optics; MOPO; quasi-phase matching; SHG; ferroelectrics; domain structuring; periodic poling; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Fine-pitch ferroelectric domain gratings are extensively used for generation of light in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions through quasi-phase matched (QPM) frequency conversion. Sub-μm QPM devices enables demonstration of nonlinear optics with counterpropagating waves, a field of nonlinear optics which remains sparsely explored due to the difficulty of fabricatinghigh quality gratings. 2. 2. Laying Tiles Ornamentally: An approach to structuring container traversals

    Author : Nikita Frolov; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zippers; cache hierarchies; loop tiling; embedded domain-specific languages; parallelism; algebraic ornaments;

    Abstract : Having hardware more capable of parallel execution means that more program scheduling decisions have to be taken to utilize that hardware efficiently. To this end, compilers implement coarse-grained loop transformations in addition to traditionally used fine-grained instruction reordering. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ferroelectric domain engineering and characterization for photonic applications

    Author : Simonetta Grilli; Fredrik Laurell; Wolfgang Sohler; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LiNbO; KTiOPO; interferometry; digital holography; electric field poling; electro-optic materials; holographic lithography; ferroelectric domains; nanostructures; microstructures; Optical physics; Optisk fysik;

    Abstract : Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) and KTiOPO4 (KTP) are ferroelectric crystals of considerable interest in different fields of optics and optoelectronics. Due to its large values of the nonlinear optical, electro-optic (EO), piezoelectric and acousto-optical coefficients, LiNbO3 is widely used for laser frequency conversion using the quasiphase matching (QPM) approach where the sign of nonlinearity has been periodically modulated by electric field poling (EFP). 4. 4. Precise Image-Based Measurements through Irregular Sampling

    Author : Teo Asplund; Robin Strand; Cris L. Luengo Hendriks; Matthew J. Thurley; Gunilla Borgefors; Hugues Talbot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; image analysis; image processing; mathematical morphology; irregular sampling; adaptive morphology; missing samples; continuous morphology; path opening.; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Abstract : Mathematical morphology is a theory that is applicable broadly in signal processing, but in this thesis we focus mainly on image data. Fundamental concepts of morphology include the structuring element and the four operators: dilation, erosion, closing, and opening. READ MORE

  5. 5. Information Management for Factory Planning and Design

    Author : Danfang Chen; Torsten Kjellberg; Terje Kristoffer Lien; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SRA - Production; SRA - Produktion;

    Abstract : This thesis is dedicated to the manufacturing industry for the improvement of information management within the factory planningand design domain, and for more efficient factory planning and design. Currently the manufacturing industry lacks sufficient methods for capturing, structuring, and representing information and knowledge for easy access, exchange, integration and reuse within the domain.
