1. Domain swapping as a molecular mechanism in amyloidosis
Abstract : Amyloidosis is a group of diseases characterized by a change in protein conformation resulting in aggregation and tissue deposition of amyloid fibrils. One variant of cystatin C, L68Q cystatin C, is highly amyloidogenic and persons carrying the corresponding gene suffer from massive cerebral amyloidosis leading to brain hemorrhage and death. 2. Molecular Mechanisms in Amyloid Disorders. Novel Treatment Options in Hereditary Cystatin C Amyloid Angiopathy
Abstract : The pathophysiological process in Alzheimer’s disease and other amyloid disorders usually involves the transformation of a soluble monomeric protein via potentially toxic oligomers into amyloid fibrils. The structure and properties of the intermediary oligomers have been difficult to study due to their instability and dynamic equilibrium with smaller and larger species. READ MORE

3. Human Forkhead Genes
Abstract : The forkhead family constitutes a group of genes which encodes transcription factors that share a common DNA-binding domain, the forkhead domain. The first member to be discovered was the Drosophila melanogaster gene fork head. Members of this family have been found in a variety of species from bakers' yeast to man. READ MORE

4. The transaldolase family : structure, function and evolution
Abstract : The transaldolase gene family includes representatives from all kingdoms of life and the encoded enzymes are important for carbohydrate metabolism. The family can be divided into two subfamilies; Classical transaldolases and the MipB/TalC proteins. READ MORE

5. Spatio-Temporal Data Mining for Location-Based Services
Abstract : Largely driven by advances in communication and information technology, such as the increasing availability and accuracy of GPS technology and the miniaturization of wireless communication devices, Location–Based Services (LBS) are continuously gaining popularity. Innovative LBSes integrate knowledge about the users into the service. READ MORE
