  1. 21. Advanced nano- and microdomain engineering of Rb-doped KTiOPO4 for nonlinear optical applications

    Author : Charlotte Liljestrand; Carlota Canalias; Sunao Kurimura; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; KTiOPO4; nonlinear optics; MOPO; quasi-phase matching; SHG; ferroelectrics; domain structuring; periodic poling; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Fine-pitch ferroelectric domain gratings are extensively used for generation of light in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions through quasi-phase matched (QPM) frequency conversion. Sub-μm QPM devices enables demonstration of nonlinear optics with counterpropagating waves, a field of nonlinear optics which remains sparsely explored due to the difficulty of fabricatinghigh quality gratings. 2. 22. Combinatorics of solvable lattice models with a reflecting end

    Author : Linnea Hietala; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mathematics; mathematical physics; six-vertex model; eight-vertex SOS model; three-color model; reflecting end; domain wall boundary conditions; partition function; determinant formula; XYZ spin chain; alternating sign matrices; special polynomials; positive coefficients;

    Abstract : I den här avhandlingen studerar vi några exakt lösbara, kvantintegrerbara gittermodeller. Izergin bevisade en determinantformel för partitionsfunktionen till sexvertexmodellen på ett gitter av storlek n × n med Korepins domänväggrandvillkor (domain wall boundary conditions – DWBC). 3. 23. A combinatorial description of certain polynomials related to the XYZ spin chain

    Author : Linnea Hietala; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; six-vertex model; eight-vertex SOS model; three-color model; domain wall boundary conditions; reflecting end; partition function; determinant formula; XYZ spin chain; alternating sign matrices; polynomials; positive coefficients;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to study the connection between the three-color model and the polynomials q_n(z) of Bazhanov and Mangazeev. To give some background, we describe some exactly solvable, quantum integrable lattice models and their connections to each other and to other models. READ MORE

  4. 24. A Linearized Navier-Stokes Equations Methodology for Aeroacoustic and Thermoacoustic Simulations

    Author : Wei Na; Susann Boij; Gunilla Efraimsson; Niklas Andersson; KTH; []

    Abstract : Aeroengine noise is one of the dominating noise sources in today’s aircraft. Reduction of the aeroengine noise is related to multiphysics phenomena, and that is subject to different mechanisms, e.g., the coupling between turbulence, flame and sound waves. READ MORE

  5. 25. Structure and lipid interactions of membrane-associated glycosyltransferases : Cationic patches and anionic lipids regulate biomembrane binding of both GT-A and GT-B enzymes

    Author : Scarlett Szpryngiel; Lena Mäler; Marcelo Guerins; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; glycosyltransferase; monotopic membrane proteins; galactolipids; NMR; chitin synthase; DGD2; LPS; WaaG; MIT domain; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns work on structure and membrane interactions of enzymes involved in lipid synthesis, biomembrane and cell wall regulation and cell defense processes. These proteins, known as glycosyltransferases (GTs), are involved in the transfer of sugar moieties from nucleotide sugars to lipids or chitin polymers. READ MORE
