    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; image registering; multi-slice; slice profile; ferrous sulphate; polyacrylamide; 3D volume acquisition; RF field; B1 field; relaxation time; T1; T2; spin-echo; multi-spin-echo; stochastic noise; nonuniformity; SNR; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Gel dosimetry is a new dosimetry method applied in radiation therapy. Gel dosimeters consist of a radiation sensitive gel, which can integrate absorbed doses from several radiation sources or beams. The dose to the gel can be evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a procedure that is the focus of the present thesis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Pharmacometric tools to support translational drug development

    Author : Rami Ayoun Alsoud; Ulrika S. H. Simonsson; Michael Lyons; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; drug development; pharmacometrics; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; non-linear mixed effect models; tuberculosis; dose selection; interspecies scaling; pediatric trials; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : The use of model-informed drug development has been shown to save significant costs and improve decision making early in the drug development process. The work in this PhD thesis aimed to employ pharmacometric tools to support translational drug development from the preclinical to the late clinical stages. READ MORE

  3. 3. Impact of glucose feed rate on productivity and recombinant protein quality in Escherichia coli

    Author : Anna Maria Sandén; Gen Larsson; Gunnar Lidén; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Escherichia coli; recombinant protein production; fed-batch; feed profile; specific growth rate; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The goal of this work was to contribute to the fed-batch process optimisation task by deriving parameters that have considerable impact on productivity as well as product quality The chosen parameters were I) the design of the glucose feed profile, II) the choice of induction strategy, with respect to the method of addition, and III) the time of the induction, with respect to the specific glucose consumption rate.The present fed-batch experiments using the lacUV5-promoter, for production of b-galactosidase, have shown that a high glucose feed rate gives a specific production rate, qp, that is twice as high, after induction, compared to a feed rate that is 2. 4. 4. Quantitative influence of exogenous androgens on serum lipid profile and endocrine functions

    Author : Nina Gårevik; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) in doping have been a concern predominantly in sports. The focus has now switched to the doping in the society which is a significant problem for the public health. The abuse of AAS is associated with mental and somatic side effects and with the use of several other drugs including narcotics. READ MORE

  5. 5. Stability of point defects in silicon induced by high energy low dose ion implantation

    Author : Lalita Josyula; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Ion implantation is a key' process for the introduction ofdopants in semiconductor technology. It involves bombarding thesubstrate material with energetic ions. READ MORE
