16. The Influence of Polyelectrolytes on the Stability of Colloids
Abstract : The interaction between two colloids with grafted polyelectrolytes in aqueous solution is studied within the primitive model by Monte Carlo simulations. For neutral colloids with grafted polyelectrolytes and in absence of salt the interaction is strongly repulsive in absence of salt. READ MORE

17. Design of Cellulose-based Materials by Supramolecular Assemblies
Abstract : Due to climate change and plastic pollution, there is an increasing demand for bio-based materials with similar properties to those of common plastics yet biodegradable. In this respect, cellulose is a strong candidate that is already being refined on a large industrial scale, but the properties differ significantly from those of common plastics in terms of shapeability and water-resilience. 18. Molecular Insight into Ion-Specific Interactions : Vibrational Sum Frequency Study of the Carboxylic Acid Moiety
Abstract : Ion specific effects at charged interfaces find numerous applications in colloidal sciences and play a vital role in many biological processes. Despite having been studied for over a century, starting with the work of F. Hofmeister in the 1880s, a comprehensive molecular understanding remains elusive. READ MORE

19. Operating Organic Electronics via Aqueous Electric Double Layers
Abstract : The field of organic electronics emerged in the 1970s with the discovery of conducting polymers. With the introduction of plastics as conductors and semiconductors came many new possibilities both in production and function of electronic devices. READ MORE

20. InP DHBT Amplifiers and Circuit Packaging up to Submillimeter-Wave Frequencies
Abstract : This thesis treats the design and characterization of amplifiers operating up tosubmillimeter-wave frequencies and packaging of such circuits into waveguidemodules. The circuits use an advanced indium phosphide (InP) double heterojunctionbipolar transistor (DHBT) process with a multilayer back-end. READ MORE
