  1. 21. Quality on single-track railway lines with passenger traffic : Anlytical model for evaluation of crossing stations and partial double-tracks

    Author : Olov Lindfeldt; Bo-Lennart Nelldal; Lars-Göran Mattsson; Nils Olsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Railway operation; Railway capacity; single-track; crossing station; partial double-track; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Railway transportation is showing a substantial increase. Investments in new infrastructure, new fast and comfortable vehicles, and high frequency of service are important factors behind the increase.Infrastructure configuration and timetable construction play important roles in the competitiveness of railway transportation. 2. 22. Nutrition transition and the double burden of malnutrition in Indonesia : a mixed method approach exploring social and contextual determinants of malnutrition

    Author : Masoud Vaezghasemi; Nawi Ng; Ann Öhman; Malin Eriksson; Anna Winkvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Double burden of malnutrition; Child obesity; Body Mass Index; Gender relations; Social capital; Multilevel modelling; Grounded theory; Indonesian Family Life Surveys; Indonesia; folkhälsa; Public health;

    Abstract : IntroductionNutrition transition concerns the broad changes in the human diet that have occurred over time and space. In low- to middle-income countries such as Indonesia, nutrient transition describes shifts from traditional diets high in cereal and fibre towards Western pattern diets high in sugars, fat, and animal-source foods. 3. 23. Interfacial properties of calcium montmorillonite in aqueous solutions : Density functional theory and classical molecular dynamics studies on the electric double layer

    Author : Guomin Yang; Göran Lindbergh; Ivars Neretnieks; Michael Holmboe; Jan Forsman; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Clay minerals; Bentonite; density functional theory; molecular dynamics; GROMACS; electric double layer; electrolytes; ionic liquids; primitive model; CLAYFF forcefield.; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The swelling properties of Bentonite are highly affected by clay content and the clay-water interactions that arise from the ion distribution in the diffuse double layer formed near the charged montmorillonite (or smectite) surfaces. Existing continuum models describing the electric double layers, such as classical Poisson-Boltzmann and DLVO theory, ignore the ion-ion correlations, which are especially important for multivalent ions at high surface charge and ionic strength. 4. 24. Repair of DNA double-stranded breaks in human cells

    Author : Susanne Nyström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; DNA-PK; DNA double-stranded break; DSB; DNA single-stranded break; SSB; DNA damage; ionizing radiation; IR; DNA repair; calicheamicin gamma1; bleomycin; etoposide; topoisomerase II; radiotherapy; radiosensitizer; ATM;

    Abstract : DNA is continuously subjected to degradation. Therefore, our cells need to constantly repair its DNA to prevent mutations and in the long run cancer. In mammalian cells, when DNA is broken right off, a double-stranded break (DSB) is produced, and the ends are ligated by a process called non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ). READ MORE

  5. 25. The Double Obstacle Problem on Metric Spaces

    Author : Zohra Farnana; Jan Björn; Anders Björn; Juha Kinnunen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metric space; nonlinear; obstacle problem; p-harmonic; potential theory; regularity; stability; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : During the last decade, potential theory and p-harmonic functions have been developed in the setting of doubling metric measure spaces supporting a p-Poincar´e inequality. This theory unifies, and has applications in several areas of analysis, such as weighted Sobolev spaces, calculus on Riemannian manifolds and Carnot groups, subelliptic differential operators and potential theory on graphs.
