  1. 1. Genetic dissection of tubulogenesis in the Drosophila trachea

    Author : Johanna Hemphälä; Christos Samakovlis; Reinhard Schuh; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; trachea; transposon mutagenesis screen; fusion; Dpp; Delta; tubular dimensions; Grainyhead; Krotzkopf verkehrt; intralumenal matrix; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Abstract : The formation of branched tubular organs, such as the mammalian lung kidney and vascular system, is an essential process in animal development. The Drosophila tracheal (respiratory) system provides a genetic model system to study the highly ordered process of branch outgrowth and fusion required to form continuous tubular networks. 2. 2. On Meal Effects and DPP-4 Inhibition Islet- and Incretin Hormones in Health and Type 2 Diabetes

    Author : Wathik Alsalim; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 2 diabetes; Healthy subjects; Meal composition; Incretin hormones; DPP-4 inhibition;

  3. 3. Glucagon Counter-Regulation to Hypoglycemia During Incretin-Based Therapy

    Author : Johan Farngren; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Incretin; DPP-4; GLP-1; Glucagon; Hypoglycemia; Diabetes;

    Abstract : Incretin-based therapy is associated with low risk of hypoglycemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) possibly due to its glucose-dependency in stimulating insulin secretion and a sustained glucagon response during hypoglycemia. This is of special relevance when it is combined with insulin or given to elderly patients since both insulin therapy and high age are associated with impaired glucagon counter-regulation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Novel insights into the regulation of insulin secretion by GLP-1, GIP and glucagon

    Author : Linda Ahlkvist; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vagus nerve; GPR119; Insulin resistance; Glucagon; GIP; GLP-1; Insulin;

    Abstract : There are many contributing factors to the development of type 2 diabetes, however, failure of beta-cells to sufficiently secrete insulin is the key component. The underlying mechanism of beta-cell failure is not fully established. In this thesis, we examined the role of high glucagon levels, i.e. READ MORE

  5. 5. Hindrances and Feasibilities that Affect Discharge Planning : Perspectives Before and After the Development and Testing of ICT Solutions

    Author : Sofi Nordmark; Eva Lidén; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nursing; Omvårdnad;

    Abstract : Deficits in collaboration and information exchange during patient discharge from the hospital can cause negative consequences for the patient, such as delayed discharge, readmission, inadequate post-discharge care, and reduced quality of life. Information and communication technology (ICT) can contribute to easing and securing information exchange and collaboration at care transitions from one care provider to another. READ MORE
