  1. 21. From Penicillin Binding Proteins to Community Interventions : Mathematical and Statistical Models Related to Antibiotic Resistance

    Author : Patricia Geli Rolfhamre; Åke Svensson; Mikael Andersson; Dan I. Andersson; Karl Ekdahl; Bruce R. Levin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antibiotic resistance; mathematical modeling; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; penicillin binding protein; postantibiotic effect; reversibility; selection; community intervention; Mathematical statistics; Matematisk statistik; matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics;

    Abstract : Antibiotic resistance has become a major public health concern and mathematical models are important analytical tools for the understanding, evaluation and prediction of the resistance problem and related control strategies.The risk of emerging antibiotic resistance and selection has rarely been a concern in the design of antibiotic drug dosing regimens. 2. 22. On monetary policy and interest rate determination in an open economy

    Author : Lars Hörngren; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Swedish financial markets, in particular the money market, have developed very rapidly during the 1980s. Concurrently, there has been an equally drastic change in the conduct of monetary policy and a shift away from the previous reliance on regulatory policy instruments. READ MORE

  3. 23. Proteomic profiles and gene expressions in the symbiotically competent cyanobacterium Nostoc sp. PCC 73102

    Author : Liang Ran; Birgitta Bergman; Karl Forchhammer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nostoc PCC 73102; hormogonia; 2-DE; symbiosis; photo-autotrophy; heterotrophy; cell differentiation; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Nostoc PCC 73102 is an evolutionary important cyanobacterium with multiple phenotypic traits and symbiotic capacities. Based on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, a proteomic approach was developed in order to obtain protein profiles of this symbiotically competent cyanobacterium during three trophic types/life stages: free-living photo-autotrophic and diazotrophic growth conditions, dark heterotrophic conditions and hormogonium formation. 4. 24. Revealing the architecture and composition of the sperm flagellum tip

    Author : Davide Zabeo; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Structural biology; Microtubules; Electron microscopy; Cryo-electron microscopy; Cryo-electron tomography;

    Abstract : The eukaryotic flagellum is a membrane-bound protruding organelle with a cytoskeleton of microtubules. Flagella are found in unicellular as well as multicellular organisms, performing a variety of functions. READ MORE

  5. 25. Synthesis of metal oxide nanostructures, their characterization and chemical sensing applications

    Author : Zafar Hussain Ibupoto; Magnus Willander; Bansi Malhotra; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Hydrothermal method; seed layer; ZnO nanorods; ZnO nanotubes; immunosensor; iron ferrite; glucose sensor; well aligned ZnO nanorods; CuO nanoleaves; CuO nanosheets; CuO bundle of nanowires;

    Abstract : The existence of nanomaterials is a revolutionizing step towards the fabrication of nanodevices and it enhances the enthusiasm of the researchers for the development of new devices with improved performance relative to that of bulk material based devices. Among the nanomaterials, the metal oxide nanostructures have drawn the attention of scientific community in the development of different biochemical and biomedical nanodevices in the recent time.
