11. On Gate Drivers for MOS-Controlled Power Devices and dv-dt Filters for Train Traction Converters
Abstract : In this thesis, low-loss gate-drive solutions and a proposed dv/dt-filter have been investigated with focus on train traction converters with dv/dt constraints.By using the silicon carbide (SiC) junction field-effect transistor (JFET), the switching losses can be significantly reduced compared to the commonly used insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), but complex gate-driver solutions are required for high utilization in terms of loss reduction. 12. Design and Assessment of Battery Electric Vehicle Powertrain, with Respect to Performance, Energy Consumption and Electric Motor Thermal Capability
Abstract : In this thesis, various drive cycles, legislative, official real-world and measured, have been studied and characterized based on their speed and acceleration content. Three reference vehicles (a City car, a Highway car and a Sport car) were conceptualized after performance requirements, with data on existing battery electric cars as a frame of reference. READ MORE

13. Going from Lineside to In-cab Railway Signaling : Driveability Issues and Solutions
Abstract : From many perspectives there is a need to understand more of how capacity, signal systems, anddriving behavior interact, and naturally since ERTMS is in its early stage, some areas are stillunexplored. The number of retrofitted ERTMS lines and new designed ERTMS lines are increasing inEurope, which implies extra focus on the capacity optimization in the network planning process. READ MORE

14. Modelling and simulation of electromagnetic audible noise generated by traction motors
Abstract : An annoying tonal noise is produced by modern electrical trains duringacceleration and deceleration. This noise is caused by electromagneticforces generating structural vibrations, especially from the traction motors. READ MORE

15. Harmonic Mitigation in Traction Drives
Abstract : In railway traffic the low friction between wheel and rail causes long braking distances, normally much longer than the sight distance of the driver, i.e. if the driver starts the braking when a problem on the track is discovered, it might be too late to brake the train. Therefore, safe railway traffic can not only rely on the driver. READ MORE
