1. Driving safe in the future? Driver Needs and Requirements for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Abstract : In recent years, active safety has become an increasingly important factor within the automotive industry. Active safety systems, also known as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), have the function of actively assisting the driver in avoiding accidents by providing information about current and upcoming traffic situations and helping the driver take proper action before a potential accident occurs. 2. Facing failures : interactions between drivers and advanced driver assistance systems
Abstract : Drivers interactions with advanced driver assistance systems based on experiences from real driving and results from driving in a driving simulator were under investigation in this thesis. Questions posed were: - How do drivers perceive and interact with ADAS? - How are (technical) failures handled by drivers, and which are the consequences of these failures? - Which are the implications for diagnosis and detection of failures, as well as for system development? Special attention was given to driver behavior in response to technical failures in an adaptive cruise control system. READ MORE

3. Driving Safe in the Future - HMI for Integrated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Abstract : To be able to drive safely and efficiently, drivers need information from the surrounding traffic environment that make it possible to foresee early events that may negatively affect safety. A driver can in some cases perceive events that potentially have a negative impact on traffic safety, but in other cases not. READ MORE

4. Traffic Simulation Modelling of Rural Roads and Driver Assistance Systems
Abstract : Microscopic traffic simulation has proven to be a useful tool for analysis of varioustraffic systems. This thesis consider microscopic traffic simulation of rural roads andthe use of traffic simulation for evaluation of driver assistance systems. READ MORE

5. Effects of hearing loss on traffic safety and mobility
Abstract : The aim of this PhD thesis was to investigate traffic safety and mobility for individuals with hearing loss (HL). Three studies were conducted: 1. a questionnaire survey aimed to evaluate differences in choice of transportation that might be related to HL, 2. READ MORE
