  1. 1. Distributed Moving Base Driving Simulators : Technology, Performance, and Requirements

    Author : Anders Andersson; Peter Fritzson; Jonas Jansson; Richard Romano; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Development of new functionality and smart systems for different types of vehicles is accelerating with the advent of new emerging technologies such as connected and autonomous vehicles. To ensure that these new systems and functions work as intended, flexible and credible evaluation tools are necessary. READ MORE

  2. 2. The driver response process in assisted and automated driving

    Author : Linda Pipkorn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; automation safety; take-over request; driver behavior; response process; automated driving; driving performance;

    Abstract : Background: Safe assisted and automated driving can be achieved through a detailed understanding of the driver response process (the timing and quality of driver actions and visual behavior) triggered by an event such as a take-over request or a safety-relevant event. Importantly, most current evidence on driver response process in vehicle automation, and on automation effects (unsafe response process) is based on driving-simulator studies, whose results may not generalize to the real world. 3. 3. Simulation of Surrounding Vehicles in Driving Simulators

    Author : Johan Olstam; Jan Lundgren; Jonas Jansson; Mikael Adlers; Pontus Matstoms; Martin Fellendorf; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : Traffic; Micro; Simulation; Mode; Overtaking; Lane changing; Car following; Rural road; Mathematical model; Simulator; Thesis; Road: Traffic theory; Road: Traffic theory; TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Driving simulators and microscopic traffic simulation are important tools for making evaluations of driving and traffic. A driving simulator is de-signed to imitate real driving and is used to conduct experiments on driver behavior. Traffic simulation is commonly used to evaluate the quality of service of different infrastructure designs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Extensions for Distributed Moving Base Driving Simulators

    Author : Anders Andersson; Frtizson Peter; Jonas Jansson; Bengt Jacobson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Modern vehicles are complex systems. Different design stages for such a complex system include evaluation using models and submodels, hardware-in-the-loop systems and complete vehicles. Once a vehicle is delivered to the market evaluation continues by the public. READ MORE

  5. 5. Motion Perception and Tire Models for Winter Conditions in Driving Simulators

    Author : Artem Kusachov; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vehicle dynamics; winter conditions; tire model; motion perception; winter driving simulation;

    Abstract : Many traffic accidents happen due to winter conditions, like slippery roads and limited visibility. The road administrators put a lot of effort into snow removal and deicing the roads. The vehicle manufacturers have been working with functionality to support drivers in winter conditions (studded tires, ABS, ESC, etc.) for decades. READ MORE
