  1. 16. Whole-crop cereals for growing cattle : effects of maturity stage and chopping on intake and utilisation

    Author : Bengt-Ove Rustas; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The effects of maturity and chopping of whole-crop cereal silage on intake, digestibility, live-weight gain and feeding behaviour of growing cattle were evaluated. Organic matter digestibility of whole-crop barley and wheat, mainly explained by fibre concentration and digestibility, decreased from the heading stage to the milk stage of maturity. READ MORE

  2. 17. Leaf- to field-level compound effects of warm and dry conditions on crops and potential mitigating strategies

    Author : Xiangyu Luan; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Ongoing climate change has been threatening global food security. Under climate change, increasing risk of hot and dry conditions (termed compound events) is projected in many agricultural regions. Compound events cause detrimental effects on crops, yet their effects have rarely been quantified based on modeling approach. READ MORE

  3. 18. Impact of fermentation on the nutritive value of cassava root pulp and soybean pulp as a feed for growing pigs in Lao PDR

    Author : Lotchana Taysayavong; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluated the impact of fermentation on the nutritive value of cassava root pulp (CRP) and soybean pulp (SBP) as feed for growing pigs. The evaluation was based on four studies (two fermentation and two animal studies). READ MORE

  4. 19. Adapting Scots pine Regeneration to the Changing Climate : An investigation of the effects of seed coating, arginine addition, and planting position

    Author : Matej Domevscik; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In Sweden, new forest stands have long been artificially regenerated using conifer seedlings. While standardized and widely adopted, this approach may need to be further adapted to the predicted increases in variations in the weather, such as extended periods of drought. READ MORE

  5. 20. High Temperature Corrosion of Stainless Steels in Low Oxygen Activity Environments -The effect of H2 and H2O

    Author : Hamed Hoseini Hooshyar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pre-oxidation; chromia former; H2O; High Temperature Corrosion; alumina former; H2;

    Abstract : Gasification of biomass and waste is promising for reducing the use of fossil fuels. While the operation conditions of superheaters and gas coolers in the gasifier are restricted by gas-side corrosion, scientific investigations are very scarce in this field. READ MORE
