  1. 1. Alcohol Flexible Dual-Fuel Direct Injection Engine

    Author : Michael Saccullo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fuel spray; Ethanol; Dual-fuel; Heavy duty engine; Diffusion combustion; Dual-direct injection; E85; Methanol;

    Abstract : Laws concerning emissions from HD internal combustion engines are becoming increasingly stringent in terms of local emissions and emissions concerning global warming such as lowering tailpipe CO2. New engine technologies are needed to satisfy these new requirements and to reduce fossil fuel dependency and increase renewable fuels in the transportation sector. READ MORE

  2. 2. Solid Fuel Conversion in Dual Fluidized Bed Gasification - Modelling and Experiments

    Author : Louise Lundberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dual fluidized bed gasification; fuel mixing; biomass; semi-empirical modelling; char gasification rate; fuel conversion; active bed material; char reactivity;

    Abstract : Dual fluidized bed gasification (DFBG) is the initial step towards the transformation of ligno-cellulosic materials into a raw gas, which can be further upgraded into transportation fuels, such as substitute natural gas, Fischer-Tropsch diesel, dimethyl ether, and methanol. DFBG units can be operated in two distinctly different ways, depending on whether the main product is a gas (to be refined into a transportation fuel) or heat and power (with gas as a by-product). 3. 3. Experimental Investigations on Natural Gas-Diesel Dual Fuel Combustion

    Author : Pablo Garcia; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dual Fuel; Diesel; Natural Gas; Pilot Injection; Combustion Efficiency; Methane; Nitrogen Oxides; Lean operation; Ignition;

    Abstract : Natural gas has been traditionally applied in spark-ignited combustion engines due to similar combustion characteristics for methane gas and gasoline. However, spark ignition requires a low compression ratio to avoid knock problems and therefore, gas engines have lower efficiency than diesel engines. READ MORE

  4. 4. Advancing the Limits of Dual Fuel Combustion

    Author : Fredrik Königsson; Hans-Erik Ångström; Arne Andersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diesel Dual Fuel; Methane; CNG; Biogas; Injector; Coking; Knock; Pre-ignition; Preignition; HCCI; PPCI; PPC; RCCI;

    Abstract : There is a growing interest in alternative transport fuels. There are two underlying reasons for this interest; the desire to decrease the environmental impact of transports and the need to compensate for the declining availability of petroleum. In the light of both these factors the Diesel Dual Fuel, DDF, engine is an attractive concept. READ MORE

  5. 5. Large eddy simulation of dual-fuel combustion under ICE conditions

    Author : Shijie Xu; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbulent combustion; transported probability density function; dual-fuel; spray;

    Abstract : The present thesis aims at studying n-heptane/methanol dual-fuel combustion under internal combustion engine conditions and strives to improve the understanding of its ignition, combustion, and pollutant emission mechanisms. Large-eddy simulation (LES) coupled with Eulerian stochastic fields (ESF) approach is employed to simulate single/dual-fuel combustion in a constant-volume vessel to mimic the single/dual-fuel combustion in conventional/dual-fuel premixed engines.
