1. Acute Myocardial Infarction: The Relationship between Duration of Ischaemia and Infarct Size in Humans - Assessment by MRI and SPECT
Abstract : The effect of duration of ischaemia on final infarct size is well established in animal studies, but not fully evaluated in humans. Delayed contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DE-MRI) can be used to distinguish between viable and non-viable myocardium and thus to quantify infarct size. READ MORE

2. Abdominal compartment syndrome and colonic ischaemia after abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in the endovascular era
Abstract : Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (ACS) and colonic ischaemia (CI) are serious and potentially lethal complications after open (OSR) and endovascular repair (EVAR) of ruptured (rAAA) and intact (iAAA) abdominal aortic aneurysms. The aims of this thesis were to investigate the incidence, outcome, and risk factors associated with ACS (Papers I-III) and to evaluate extraluminal colonic tonometry for postoperative surveillance of colonic perfusion (Paper IV). 3. Use and Misuse of Oxytocin During Delivery
Abstract : Obstetric malpractice claims, concerning delivery during a period of eight years, were analysed for motives behind disciplinary actions, and for the frequency of inappropriate oxytocin use.Failure to respond to signs of foetal distress, injudicious use of oxytocin and a failure to effect a timely delivery were the recurrent problems that accounted for the majority of disciplinary actions. 4. Cardiac muscle injury in children and experimental animals. Reflections in ECG, especially high-resolution electrocardiography
Abstract : Background and Methods: Signal-averaging ECG (SAECG), a bioelectrical processing method, is a further development of the conventional ECG. SAECG can detect voltage potentials in the microvolt range and provide a noise-reduced determination of QRS duration. Extended frequency spectra can be analysed. READ MORE

5. Studies on sitting pressure and buttock microcirculation : aiming at developing an alarm in the prevention of pressure ulcers in patients with spinal cord injuries
Abstract : Pressure ulcers in patients with spinal cord injuries are a major problem, the prevalence in this group being reported as high as 20 – 30 percent. Most pressure ulcers develop around the pelvic girdle, and the key-contributing factor in the development of pressure ulcers is ischaemia due to longstanding pressure. READ MORE
