  1. 16. Expressing emotions through vibration for perception and control

    Author : Shafiq ur Réhman; Li Liu; Xiaoyi Jiang; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Multimodal Signal Processing; Mobile Communication; Vibrotactile Rendering; Locally Linear Embedding; Object Detection; Human Facial Expression Analysis; Lip Tracking; Object Tracking; HCI; Expectation-Maximization Algorithm; Lipless Tracking; Image Analysis; Visually Impaired.; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Image analysis; Bildanalys; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation; Systems engineering; Systemteknik; datoriserad bildanalys; Computerized Image Analysis; business data processing; administrativ databehandling; Electronics; elektronik; Systems Analysis; systemanalys;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses a challenging problem: “how to let the visually impaired ‘see’ others emotions”. We, human beings, are heavily dependent on facial expressions to express ourselves. A smile shows that the person you are talking to is pleased, amused, relieved etc. READ MORE

  2. 17. Aiming at Moving Targets : Applying Cognitive Work Analysis to Work Domains in Transition

    Author : Ida Löscher; Anders Arweström Jansson; Åsa Cajander; Camilla Fröjd; Stas Krupenia; Catherine Burns; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cognitive work analysis; work domain analysis; control task analysis; strategies analysis; abstraction hierarchy; contextual activity template; activity prioritization; systems design; heavy vehicle development; long haul trucks; intensive care; nursing; digitalization.; Computer Science with specialization in Human-Computer Interaction; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot människa-datorinteraktion;

    Abstract : The design of IT systems for complex work environments is essential for workers to be able to operate more effectively and efficiently. To design a system that supports the workers' specific tasks we need to understand the work demands and the context in which the system operates. READ MORE

  3. 18. Dynamic Software Architectures

    Author : Jesper Andersson; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Software architecture; Dynamic re-configuration; Software engineering; Programvaruteknik; Data- och informationsvetenskap; Computer and Information Sciences Computer Science; Computer science;

    Abstract : Software architecture is a software engineering discipline that provides notations and processes for high-level partitioning of systems' responsibilities early in the software design process. This thesis is concerned with a specific subclass of systems, systems with a dynamic software architecture. READ MORE

  4. 19. Model-Based Investigation of Machining Systems Characteristics : Static and Dynamic Stability Analysis

    Author : Andreas Archenti; Mihai Nicolescu; Amir Rashid; KTH; []
    Keywords : Machining systems; modelling; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The increasing demands for precision and efficiency in machining call for new control strategies for machining systems based on the identification of static and dynamic characteristics under operational conditions. By considering the machining system as a closed-loop system consisting of a machine tool structure and a machining process, the join system characteristics can be analyzed. READ MORE

  5. 20. Dynamic Characteristics of Floating Breakwaters

    Author : Aurora Xiaomeng Lei; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; floating breakwaters; couplings joints ; dynamic cables; dynamic response; line tension; wave attenuation; wave reflection;

    Abstract : The dynamic behaviour of interconnected floating breakwaters has been studied theoretically and experimentally. For this type of shore-protection system, problems that must be dealt with include wave loads on the breakwaters caused by the interaction between the bodies and the waves, motions of the moored breakwaters caused by the waves, changed wave fields in front of and behind the breakwaters, and forces on the mooring cables and in interconnections between breakwater units.
