  1. 1. Impartial Games and Recursive Functions

    Author : Urban Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Algorithmically undecidable; Beatty sequences; Blocking maneuver; Cellular automaton; Comply maneuver; Complementary sequences; Dictionary process; Dual game; Game complexity; Game convergence; Game reflexivity; Heap game; Impartial game; Invariant subtraction game; Move-size dynamic; Nim; P-equivalence; Rule 110; Splitting sequences; *-operator; Subtraction game; Take-away game; Turing complete; Wythoff Nim; Turing complete;

    Abstract : Interest in 2-player impartial games often concerns the famous theory of Sprague-Grundy. In this thesis we study other aspects, bridging some gaps between combinatorial number theory, computer science and combinatorial games. READ MORE

  2. 2. Selfish Dynamic Spectrum Access in Multichannel Wireless Networks : Complete and incomplete information analysis

    Author : Ali Özyagci; Jens Zander; Alexandre Proutiere; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Game theory; Multichannel random access; Bayesian game; Nash equilibrium Heterogeneous channels; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : The increasing popularity and widespread deployment of wireless data systems fuel the increasing demand for more spectrum. On the other hand, various studies measuring spectrum utilization show that there is a huge variation in spectrum utilization at different times and locations. READ MORE

  3. 3. Sequences and games generalizing the combinatorial game of Wythoff Nim

    Author : Urban Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Blocking manoeuvre; Beatty sequence; Combinatorial game; Complementary sequences; Impartial game; Interspersion array; Muller twist; Nim; Permutation of the natural numbers; Stolarsky array; Wythoff Nim; Beatty sequence;

    Abstract : One single Queen is placed on an arbitrary starting position of a (large) Chess board. Two players alternate in moving the Queen as in a game of Chess but with the restriction that the $L^1$ distance to the lower left corner, position $(0,0)$, must decrease. The player who moves there wins. Let $\phi =\frac{1+\sqrt{5}}{2}$, the golden ratio. READ MORE

  4. 4. Gameplay (3D Game Engine + Ray Tracing = Visual Attention through Eye Tracking)

    Author : Charlotte Sennersten; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Spelutveckling; Game development; Cognition; Vision; Gameplay; Instrumentation; 3D Game Engine; Eyegaze tracking;

    Abstract : Research into gameplay can contribute to more self-conscious approaches to design, allowing designers to create effective gameplay with less testing, or to target specific cognitive and emotional affects of gameplay for serious games applications. Self-conscious design includes theoretically motivated design of game systems to facilitate gameplay motivated by cognitive, scientific and/or rhetorical theories of game affect and functionality. 5. 5. Managing Digital Open Innovation with User Communities : A Study of Community Sensing and Product Openness Capabilities in the Video Game Industry

    Author : Peter Ek; David Sörhammar; Peter Thilenius; Daniel Tolstoy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; User communities; open innovation; dynamic capabilities; video game industry; Business Studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : Digital and open innovation has changed how product innovation occur and how it is managed by firms. Digital technology as an enabler of increasingly distributed innovation processes has in particular impacted firms’ abilities to draw on, and leverage, large numbers of external users and user communities to develop their offerings.
