  1. 1. Mini-Jet Production in Proton-Antiproton Interactions and Particle Production in Heavy-Ion Collisions

    Author : Haiqiao Wang; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proton antiproton interaction; Quark-gluon plasma; dynamical fluctuation; intermittency; limiting fragmentation; intranuclear cascading; target fragmentation; heavy-ion collision; image processing; mini-jet; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Wang;

    Abstract : The thesis is based on the data analysis and detector development of the EMU01/CERN, E863/BNL and UA1/CERN experiments. Particle fluctuations are studied with the scaled factorial moments in the fragmentation region of oxygen-induced emulsion interactions from 3.7 to 200 A GeV. READ MORE

  2. 2. Correlated Electronic Structure of Materials : Development and Application of Dynamical Mean Field Theory

    Author : Patrik Thunström; Olle Eriksson; Alexander Lichtenstein; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DFT; DMFT; correlation; entanglement; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is dedicated to the development, implementation and application of a combination of Density Functional Theory and Dynamical Mean Field Theory. The resulting program is shown through several examples to be a powerful and flexible tool for calculating the electronic structure of strongly correlated materials. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structural characterization of Deinococcus radiodurans phytochrome in solution

    Author : Lidija Vrhovac; Sebastian Westenhoff; Vladislav Orekhov; Magnus Wolf-Watz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Phytochromes are red/far-red photoreceptors which control a wide spectrum of biological processes inplants, fungi, and bacteria. Although phytochromes have been extensively studied, their mechanism ofaction still remains elusive. The signaling mechanism suggested by crystal structures involves refoldingof the so-called PHY tongue. READ MORE

  4. 4. Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Photoelectron Spectroscopy Studies of Si(111) and Ge(111) Surfaces : Clean and Modified by H or Sn Atoms

    Author : Ivy Razado-Colambo; Roger Uhrberg; Göran Hansson; Maria-Carmen Asensio; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The (111) surfaces of Si and Ge were studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) that are complementary techniques used to obtain structural and electronic properties of surfaces. The (111) surfaces have been of great interest because of the complex reconstructions formed by annealing. READ MORE
