  1. 11. Thermal Conductivity of Materials under Conditions of Planetary Interiors

    Author : Zuzana Konôpková; Peter Lazor; Vitali Prakapenka; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; iron; high pressures-high temperatures; thermal conductivity; diamond anvil cell; laser-heating; planetary cores; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : The presented thesis focuses on study of transport and thermoelastic properties of materials under conditions of planetary interiors by means of high-pressure experimental tools and finite element modeling, and their role in the dynamics and states of cores of terrestrial planets. Experiments in laser-heated diamond anvil cell (LHDAC) in combination with numerical simulations of heat transfer in DAC are shown to yield information on thermal conductivity of a pressurized sample. 2. 12. Measuring and analysing Levels of Automation in assembly systems - For future proactive systems

    Author : Åsa Fasth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LoA; proactive; assembly system; Level of automation;

    Abstract : Production companies frequently have to meet demands and requirements, both internal and external, which trigger a plan for change in different production areas. Smaller batches and shorter time limits for set-ups between products are some of the demands on the assembly systems caused by an increasing number of product variants e.g. READ MORE

  3. 13. From mean-field hydromagnetics to solar magnetic flux concentrations

    Author : Koen Kemel; Axel Brandenburg; Alexander Ruzmaikin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magneto-hydrodynamics; solar physics; turbulence; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : The main idea behind the work presented in this thesis is to investigate if it is possible to find a mechanism that leads to surface magnetic field concentrations and could operate under solar conditions without postulating the presence of magnetic flux tubes rising from the bottom of the convection zone, a commonly used yet physically problematic approach.In this context we study the ‘negative effective magnetic pressure effect’: it was pointed out in earlier work (Kleeorin et al. 4. 14. Generation of magnetic fields on galactic scale

    Author : Fabio Del Sordo; Axel Brandenburg; Oliver Gressel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic fields; galaxies; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : In these pages we will go through the topic of astrophysical magnetic fields, focusing on galactic fields, their observation and the theories that have been developed for a proper understanding of the these physical phenomena.We review the main work in the study of galactic magnetic fields, often seeing how it is important to deal with problems of general validity in order to be able to point out the right elements needed for a correct interpretation of specific situations. 5. 15. Importance of radial profiles in spectroscopic diagnostics applied to the EXTRAP-T2R reversed-field pinch

    Author : Bob Gravestijn; KTH; []
    Keywords : reversed-field pinch; extap-t2r; wuantitaitve plasma spectrosocpy; vuv spectroscopy; line-integrated electron tempreature;

    Abstract : The determination of the plasma confinement propertiesdemand data as the electron temperature, the ionic and electrondensity profiles and the radiative emissivity profiles. Thefocus of this thesis is the importance of radial profiles inspectroscopic diagnostics applied to the EXTRAP-T2Rreversed-field pinch. READ MORE
