  1. 1. Turbulence modeling of compressible flows with large density variation

    Author : Igor Grigoriev; Arne Johansson; Stefan Wallin; Geert Brethouwer; Stefan Hickel; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbulence; DRSM; EARSM; active scalar; compressible flow; reacting flow; supercritical flow; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : In this study we highlight the influence of mean dilatation and mean density gradient on the Reynolds stress modeling of compressible, heat-releasing and supercritical turbulent flows.Firstly, the modeling of the rapid pressure-strain correlation has been extended to self-consistently account for the influence of mean dilatation. 2. 2. Experimental study of the turbulent flow in a plane asymmetric diffuser

    Author : Olle Törnblom; KTH; []
    Keywords : fluid mechanics; wind-tunnel. Burbulence; turbulence modelling; earsm; asymmetric diffuser; boundary layer;

    Abstract : The separating turbulent flow in a plane asymmetric diffuseris investigated experimentally. The considered flow case issuitable for fundamental studies of separation, separationcontrol and turbulence modelling. The flow case has beenstudied in a specially designed wind-tunnel under wellcontrolled conditions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development and analysis of turbulence models for flows with strong curvature and rotation

    Author : Olof Grundestam; KTH; []
    Keywords : Turbulence model; nonlinear modelling; streamline curvature; high-lift aerodynamics;

    Abstract : An explicit algebraic Reynolds stress model (EARSM) based ona pressure strain rate model including terms tensoriallynonlinear in the mean velocity gradients is developed in orderto improve predictions for .ows with strong curvature and/orrotation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Numerical and modelling aspects of large-eddy and hybrid simulations of turbulent flows

    Author : Matteo Montecchia; Arne V. Johansson; Gert Brethouwer; Stefan Wallin; Dominic Von Terzi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; turbulence; wall-bounded flows; large-eddy simulation; SGS modelling; OpenFOAM; hybrid RANS-LES; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : In this study, the explicit algebraic sub-grid scale (SGS) model (EAM) has been extensively validated in wall-resolved large-eddy simulations (LES) of wall-bounded turbulent flows at different Reynolds numbers and a wide range of resolutions. Compared to eddy-viscosity based models, the formulation of the EAM is more consistent with the physics and allows to accurately capture SGS anisotropy,which is relevant especially close to walls.
