1. The Weichselian in southern Sweden and southwestern Baltic Sea : glacial stratigraphy, palaeoenvironments and deglaciation chronology
Abstract : In this thesis the Weichselian glaciation history of southernmost Sweden and the southwestern Baltic Basin is discussed, with special emphasis on Middle and Late Weichselian ice advances and subsequent deglaciations. The main study area was Kriegers Flak in the southwestern Baltic Sea where pre-Late Weichselian sediments were identified. READ MORE

2. Submerged Landscapes in the Hanö Bay : Early Holocene shoreline displacement and human environments in the southern Baltic Basin
Abstract : During times of lower global sea level, vast areas of the coastal shelf were exposed and converted into ecologically diverse coastal landscapes that wereattractive for human occupation. The landscapes were subsequently flooded during the deglaciation, but well-preserved remains of these landscapes andtheir inhabitants can today be found on the seafloor. READ MORE

3. Submerged macrophytes in shallow eutrophic lakes - regulating factors and ecosystem effects
Abstract : In this thesis I have studied factors that regulate submerged macrophyte abundance, morphology and distribution in shallow eutrophic lakes, and how submerged macrophytes may affect the ecosystem. Light attenuation through the water column (turbidity and water depth) is probably not the most important factor regulating the distribution of submerged vegetation in macrophyte dominated shallow eutrophic lakes, e. 4. Regulation and role of epiphytic nitrification and denitrification in macrophyte-dominated systems
Abstract : This thesis examines mechanisms regulating bacterial nitrification and denitrification in attached microbial communities on surfaces of aquatic macrophytes. It also evaluates the role of epiphytic nitrification and denitrification for the nitrogen turnover in macrophyte-dominated nutrient-rich freshwaters. READ MORE

5. Semipermeable membrane devices as integrative tools for monitoring nonpolar aromatic compounds in air
Abstract : Air pollutants pose a high risk for humans, and the environment, and this pollution is one of the major environmental problems facing modern society. Active air sampling is the technique that has been traditionally used to monitor nonpolar aromatic air pollutants. READ MORE
