1. Understanding the heterogeneity of the hematopoietic stem cells
Abstract : The hematopoietic system is replenished and maintained throughout life by rare hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) that reside in the bone marrow (BM) of adult mammals. Over the last 20 years, the advancement in the field lead to the acknowledgement of the heterogeneity within the HSC compartment unraveling the presence of HSC subsets with certain mature blood lineage preferences so called lineage-biased (Li-bi) HSCs. 2. Self-Monitoring using Joint Human-Machine Learning : Algorithms and Applications
Abstract : The ability to diagnose deviations and predict faults effectively is an important task in various industrial domains for minimizing costs and productivity loss and also conserving environmental resources. However, the majority of the efforts for diagnostics are still carried out by human experts in a time-consuming and expensive manner. READ MORE

3. Together We Learn More : Algorithms and Applications for User-Centric Anomaly Detection
Abstract : Anomaly detection is the problem of identifying data points or patterns that do not conform to normal behavior. Anomalies in data often correspond to important and actionable information such as frauds in financial applications, faults in production units, intrusions in computer systems, and serious diseases in patient records. 4. Global Adaptation Governance : Evidence from 30 International Organizations, 1990-2017
Abstract : Human adaptation to major climate change and variability is becoming an increasing concern among both scholars and practitioners. This PhD thesis examines the engagement of international organizations (IOs) in the governance of climate change adaptation. READ MORE

5. Bayesian Inference for Microwave Diagnostics at Joint European Torus
Abstract : The major goal of this thesis is to perform Bayesian inference jointly for electron kinetic profiles, a toroidal magnetic field correction, diagnostic sensitivities, and wall reflection properties given noisy measurements of four microwave diagnostics at the tokamak JET. Besides the measurements, this kind of inference considers prior knowledge, like profile length-scales, to update objectively the information about the physics parameters. READ MORE
