6. Pathophysiology of blood-brain barrier, brain edema and cell injury following hyperthermia : New role of heat shock protein, nitric oxide and carbon monoxide : an experimental study in rat using light and electron microscopy
Abstract : This thesis deals with the molecular mechanisms of hyperthermia induced brain damage in rats. The results clearly establish that hyperthermia caused by 4 h heat stress at 38° C is associated with a breakdown of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability which seems to be instrumental in causing brain edema and cell injury. 7. Patient-reported and medical outcomes in patients treated for diabetic macular edema : A real-world longitudinal study
Abstract : Background Diabetes mellitus can lead to complications, when the complication affects the eyes it is called retinopathy. This can affect the macula and lead to severe loss of vision, diabetic macular edema (DME). This condition has traditionally been treated with laser. READ MORE

9. Clinical and Experimental Approach to the Benefits and Risks of Laser Treatment for Diabetic Macular Edema
Abstract : Diabetic retinopathy is an ophthalmic complication of diabetes that currently affects 93 million people worldwide. Diabetic macular edema is a subtype of diabetic retinopathy that is characterized by leaking blood vessels in the central part of the retina, and it is a major cause of vision loss in individuals with diabetes. 10. Effect of Ventilatory Support on Abdominal Fluid Balance in a Sepsis Model
Abstract : In patients affected by acute respiratory failure or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) the leading cause of death is failure of different vital organs other than the lungs, so called multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The abdominal organs have a crucial role in the pathogenesis of this syndrome. READ MORE
