6. Resource allocation for Mobile Edge Clouds
Abstract : Recent advances in Internet technologies have led to the proliferation of new distributed applications in the transportation, healthcare, mining, security, and entertainment sectors. The emerging applications have characteristics such as being bandwidth-hungry, latency-critical, and applications with a user population contained within a limited geographical area, and require high availability, low jitter, and security. 7. Boundary Detection in Cardiovascular Ultrasonic Images Based on Multiscale Dynamic Programming
Abstract : Non-invasive ultrasonic imaging is widely used in cardiovascular studies as well as clinical diagnostics. This is due to its non-invasiveness, low cost and easy operation. However, ultrasonic images are noisy and present artifacts, speckles, and echo dropouts. READ MORE

8. Urban Area Information Extraction From Polarimetric SAR Data
Abstract : Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) has been used for various remote sensing applications since more information could be obtained in multiple polarizations. The overall objective of this thesis is to investigate urban area information extraction from PolSAR data with the following specific objectives: (1) to exploit polarimetric scattering model-based decomposition methods for urban areas, (2) to investigate effective methods for man-made target detection, (3) to develop edge detection and superpixel generation methods, and (4) to investigate urban area classification and segmentation. 9. Performance anomaly detection and resolution for autonomous clouds
Abstract : Fundamental properties of cloud computing such as resource sharing and on-demand self-servicing is driving a growing adoption of the cloud for hosting both legacy and new application services. A consequence of this growth is that the increasing scale and complexity of the underlying cloud infrastructure as well as the fluctuating service workloads is inducing performance incidents at a higher frequency than ever before with far-reaching impact on revenue, reliability, and reputation. 10. Spatially Adaptive Analysis and Segmentation of Polarimetric SAR Data
Abstract : In recent years, Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) has been one of the most important instruments for earth observation, and is increasingly used in various remote sensing applications. Statistical modelling and scattering analysis are two main ways for PolSAR data interpretation, and have been intensively investigated in the past two decades. READ MORE
