  1. 1. Phosphorylation in State Transition : Less cause more effect

    Author : Jakob Damkjaer; Jansson Stefan; Eva-Mari Aro; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosynthesis; Photoacclimation; State Transtion; LHCII Phosphorylation; Lhcb3; Lhcb6; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Study of the Arabidopsis thaliana knockout mutant lacking Lhcb3 (koLhcb3) have revealed a close similarity to the wild type plants. Growth rate, NPQ, qP, Φ(PSII), circular dichroism spectra, pigment composition and content of LCHII trimers have been found to be unaffected by this mutation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Recycling of TiO2 Pigments from Waste Paint: Process Development, Surface Analysis, and Characterization

    Author : Mikael Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Recycling; Recovery; Paint; Titanium dioxide; Waste.; Municipal solid waste handling; Pyrolysis; Pigment;

    Abstract : Pigments are commonly used in paint, plastic and paper products and titanium dioxide (TiO2), the most important white pigment, accounts for approximately 70 % of the total volume of all pigments used today. Minerals containing TiO2 are relatively abundant in the earth’s crust. READ MORE

  3. 3. Use of Switchable Carbamate Surfactants for Design of Reversible Colouring of Cotton

    Author : Anna-Karin Hellström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cotton; pigment; textile colouring; de-colouring; switchable surfactant; carbamate;

    Abstract : Circularity of materials is a global need. However, recycling of cotton often requires many steps involving chemical or mechanical treatments. According to the waste hierarchy, reuse is a more environmentally benign approach than recycling, giving extended lifecycles with only limited processing of materials. READ MORE

  4. 4. Inhibition of light-induced colour reversion of wood-containing papers by means of coating

    Author : Helena Fjellström; Hans Höglund; Magnus Paulsson; Arthur Ragauskas; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-yield pulp; CTMP; birch; light-induced; ageing; photo-stabilising; lignin; coating; pigment; kaolin; calcium carbonate; titanium dioxide; binder; FWA; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The main purpose of this thesis was to find ways to maintain a low level of light‐induceddiscolouration at an increased addition of mechanical and chemimechanical pulps in coated highqualityfine paper and magazine paper grades. Current technology allows the production of highyieldpulps such as thermomechanical and chemimechanical pulps with properties suitable formanufacturing high‐quality paper or paperboard with a low basis weight. 5. 5. Functional Textile Coatings Containing Flake-shaped Fillers : investigations on selected optical and electrical properties

    Author : Veronica Malm; Ilda Kazani; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : Flakes; fillers; textile coating; properties; multilayered mica; effect pigment; angle-dependent colour change; metals; conductivity; resistance measurements; e-textiles; flexibility; durability; Textil och mode generell ; Textiles and Fashion General ;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the manufacturing and characterisation of functionalised textile coatings containing different types of flake-shaped fillers with angle-dependent colour-changing and electrically conductive properties, respectively. Common benefits of these types of flakes are their high aspect ratio, which offers low filler loading with high functional performance. READ MORE
