  1. 16. Radioiodine Therapy of Hyperthyroidism - Simplified patient-specific absorbed dose planning

    Author : Helene Jönsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiobiologi; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Radiopharmaceutical technology; absorbed dose. optimise; hyperthyroidism; therapy; 131-I; radioiodine; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiology; Nuclear medicine;

    Abstract : Radioiodine therapy of hyperthyroidism is the most frequently performed radiopharmaceutical therapy. To calculate the activity of 131-I to be administered for giving a certain absorbed dose to the thyroid, the mass of the thyroid and the individual biokinetic data, normally in the form of uptake and biologic half-time, have to be determined. 2. 17. Aspects of dose, dose rate and radioisotopes in brachytherapy of uveal melanoma

    Author : Maria Fili; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Uveal melanomas constitute melanomas arising from the choroid, the ciliary body or the iris, and in adults stands for the most common primary malignant intraocular tumor. It has a high risk of metastatic spread followed by inevitable death, and unfortunately the prognosis has not improved over the last decades. READ MORE

  3. 18. Effective use of X rays in diagnostic radiology : Guidance for the optimisation of image quality and absorbed dose in the patient by use of a Monte Carlo computational model of the imaging chain

    Author : Michael Sandborg; Heang-Ping Chan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The primary objective of this thesis is to give guidance for the reduction of absorbed dose in the patient and the improvement of image quality by the optimisation of the various parameters which control the performance of the radiological imaging system. The optimisation means that image quality (contrast in screen-film imaging and signal-to-noise ratio in digital imaging) is kept constant and combinations of operating parameters which yields the lowest mean absorbed dose in the patient is determined. 5. 20. Two-Step Targeting for Effective Radionuclide Therapy : Preclinical Evaluation of 125I-labelled Anthracycline Delivered by Tumour Targeting Liposomes

    Author : Amelie Fondell; Lars Gedda; Detlef Gabel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radionuclide; Auger electrons; liposomes; targeting; tumour therapy; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : For the treatment of cancer, Auger-electron emitting radionuclides are strongly dependent on their close proximity to DNA to utilize the local therapeutic potential of the Auger electrons. This thesis investigates a two-step targeting approach that uses targeting liposomes for the delivery of an Auger-electron emitter, 125I, coupled to a DNA-binding compound, Comp1, to the tumour-cell DNA.
