1. FEM Modelling of Micro-galvanic Corrosion in Al Alloys Induced by Intermetallic Particles : Exploration of Chemical and Geometrical Effects
Abstract : Localized corrosion, such as pitting, crevice corrosion or galvanic corrosion, is a long-standing phenomenon that can greatly limit the life of metallic materials. For decades experimental methods have been used to try to understand the underlying physical, chemical and electrochemical processes that control localized corrosion in order to find effective protection methods against its propagation. 2. The effect of microstructure and temperature on the atmospheric corrosion of Mg-Al alloys
Abstract : The NaCl-induced atmospheric corrosion behavior of the Mg-Al alloy AM50 produced by rheo-casting (RC) and high pressure die casting (HPDC) techniques was studied in the laboratory. The exposures were performed at 95% RH in the absence and presence of 400 ppm CO2 at 22, 4 and -4ºC. In parallel, 99.97%Mg was investigated as reference. READ MORE

3. DFT calculations of initial localized corrosion of aluminum : Influence of aqueous ad-layer, chloride ions, and intermetallic particles
Abstract : Localized corrosion of aluminum (Al, here including Al alloys) involves a series of physico-chemical processes at the interface between the metal and the aqueous ad-layer or the aqueous solution. The mechanisms that govern localized corrosion are quite complex and have been the subject of many experimental studies. READ MORE

4. Application of copper corrosion inhibitors in mineral oil : Surface analytical studies and corrosion mitigation evaluations
Abstract : This doctoral thesis explores the copper corrosion inhibiting properties of a number of nitrogen containing hetero-organic compounds in refined mineral oil. Traditional organic corrosion inhibitors, as well as novel and bioorganic compounds have been studied. READ MORE

5. Mechanistic Approach to Corrosion of Zirconium by Water - A First Principle Study
Abstract : Zirconium and zirconium oxides are of major technological importance. There are broad applications for these materials, from fuel cell electrolyte to semiconductors and in hip-implants. In nuclear power plants, zirconium alloys are widely used as cladding material to contain the fission fuel in the reactor cores. READ MORE
