  1. 1. Nonlinear Numerical Simulations of Interactions Between Ice Rubble and Structure

    Author : Aniket Patil; Andrzej Cwirzen; Björnar Sand; Lennart Fransson; Knut Vilhelm Høyland; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ice mechanics; ice rubble; sea ice ridges; punch through test; shear box test; friction coefficient; cohesive element method; smoothed particle hydrodynamics; continuous surface cap model; numerical modelling; Byggkonstruktion; Structural Engineering;

    Abstract : This research is focused on three distinct but interconnecting topics:1) investigation of physical and mechanical properties of ice rubble, 2) material modelling of ice rubble, 3) numerical simulation of the interaction between ice rubble structure interaction. large scatter in the values of physical and mechanical properties of ice rubble can be seen in the literature due to non-standardised methods. Abstract : The subject of this thesis is the evolution and dynamics of the plasma environment of a moderately active comet before, during and after its closest approach to the Sun. For over 2 years in 2014-2016, the European Space Agency’s Rosetta spacecraft followed the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko at distances typically between a few tens and a few hundred kilometers from the nucleus, the longest and closest inspection of a comet ever made. 3. 3. Absorption of Sound : On the effects of field interaction on absorber performance

    Author : Anna Färm; Mats Åbom; Ragnar Glav; Susann Boij; Gareth Bennett; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sound absorption; Porous absorbers; Bulk reaction; Local reaction; Boundary layer; Grazing flow; Temperature gradients; Surface impedance; Sound field; Pass-by noise; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : Environmental noise has for decades been a well known problem, especially in urban areas. As noise requirements for vehicles are sharpened, noise reducing concepts are needed in early design stages requiring accurate simulations to support the design. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wear mechanisms in sheet metal forming : Effects of tool microstructure, adhesion and temperature

    Author : Anders Gåård; Pavel Krakhmalev; Jens Bergström; Ulf Olofsson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Galling; sheet metal forming; wear; friction; adhesion; temperature; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : The general trend in the car body manufacturing industry is towards low-series production and reduction of press lubricants and car weight. The limited use of lubricants, in combination with the introduction of high and ultrahigh-strength sheet materials, continuously increases the demands on the forming tools. READ MORE

    Abstract : Today, there is an essential need for lightweight, energy-efficient, environmentally benign engineering systems, and this is the driving force behind the development of a wide range of structural and functional materials for energy generation, energy storage, propulsion, and transportation. These challenges have motivated the use of magnesium alloys for lightweight structural systems. READ MORE
