    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; hemicellulose; wood; glucomannan; xylan; structure; acetylation; flexibility; solubility; interaction with cellulose; stability.; hemicellulosa; trä; glukomannan; xylan; struktur; acetylering; flexibilitet; löslighet; interaktion med cellulosa; stabilitet.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Hemicelluloses are a group of heterogeneous polysaccharides representing around 30 % of wood where the dominating types are xylans, glucomannans and xyloglucans. Hemicelluloses complex molecular structure makes it difficult to understand the relationship between structure and properties entirely, and their biological role is not yet fully verified. READ MORE

    Abstract : The purpose for this work has been to develop new robust fuel electrodes for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). The aim was to find suitable ceramic materials or composites with promising properties for the use as SOFC anodes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Oxidation of some Late Transition Metal Surfaces: Structural Studies from UHV to Atmospheric Pressure

    University dissertation from Department of Synchrotron Radiation Research, Lund University

    Author : Johan Gustafson; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:struktur; phase equilibria; crystallography; thermal and mechanical properties; Condensed matter:stucture; density functional theory; scanning tunneling microscopy; surface x-ray diffraction; high resolution core level spectroscopy; low energy electron diffraction; metal surfaces; oxidation; catalysis; egenskaper termiska och mekaniska ; kristallografi; fasjämvikt;

    Abstract : The oxidation of Rh, Pd and Pt is studied under conditions ranging from ultra high vacuum to ambient pressures, with emphasis on a complete understanding of the geometry of the various oxide structures found. The investigations use a combination of various experimental methods, including high resolution core level spectroscopy, low energy electron diffraction, surface x-ray diffraction and scanning tunneling microscopy, as well as density functional theory calculations. Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires are studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) based methods in this work. In the first section, the growth mechanism of gallium arsenide nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy is investigated. The nanowires are epitaxially grown from a gallium arsenide substrate by using gold seed particles as catalysts. READ MORE
