  1. 1. Avian IgY antibody : In vitro and in vivo

    Author : David Carlander; Lennart Hammarström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; Antigen production; chicken; cystic fibrosis; egg; ELISA; IgY; immunotherapy; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; yolk; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Immunoglobulin Y (IgY) is the major antibody found in eggs from chicken (Gallus domesticus). IgY can be used as an alternative to mammalian antibodies normally used in research, and its use in immunotherapy has recently been proposed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Production of polyclonal antibodies in rabbits and chickens immunised with human immunoglobulin G : A study of the utility of egg yolk antibody production as a substitute for rabbit serum antibody production

    Author : Lise Svendsen Bollen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Laboratory animals; antibody production; egg yolk; adjuvants; antibody response; avidity; Försöksdjursvetenskap; Laboratory animal science; Försöksdjursvetenskap; zoologisk utvecklingsbiologi; Animal Development;

    Abstract : The utility of chicken egg yolk antibodies as an alternative to rabbit antisera was studied by comparing antibody and avidity development in immunised animals (15 rabbits and 30 chickens) during a one-year immunisation scheme. Human IgG was used as the model antigen and the efficacy of three adjuvants, Freund's Complete Adjuvant, Freund's Incomplete Adjuvant and Hunter's TiterMax, was compared. READ MORE

  3. 3. Competitive adsorption of macromolecules during emulsification

    Author : Lars Nilsson; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; Technological sciences; Egg yolk proteins; Competitiva adsorption; Field Flow Fractionation; Hydrophobically modified starch; Emulsions;

    Abstract : The adsorption behavior of macromolecular emulsifiers is important in the understanding of their functionality. Understanding of the adsorption behavior can ultimately enable us to control emulsion properties. READ MORE
