  3. 3. Lubricant replenishment in the vicinity of an EHD contact

    Author : Per-Olof Larsson-Kråik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Lubricants are subjected to high pressures in many mechanical devices - notably gears, cams, piston rings and rolling element bearings. The contact pressure between the ball and the race in a ball bearing can be as high as 5 GPa. READ MORE

  4. 4. Molecular mechanisms in synaptic vesicle recycling

    Author : Joel Jakobsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Neurons communicate through specialized contacts called synapses, which consist of pre- and postsynaptic compartments separated by a narrow synaptic cleft. The stimulus- dependent rapid influx of calcium ions into the presynaptic compartment induces fusion of neurotransmitter-filled vesicles with the plasma membrane and release of their content into the synaptic cleft. 5. 5. Friction in Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication

    Author : Marcus Björling; H. P. Evans; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Today, with increasing demands on industry to reduce energy consumption and emissions, the strive to increase the efficiency of machine components is maybe bigger than ever. This PhD thesis focus on friction in elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL), found in, among others, gears, bearings and cam followers. READ MORE
