  1. 1. Mirror Nuclei - Isospin Symmetry Breaking in the Mass A=35 and A=51 Mirror Nuclei

    Author : Jörgen Ekman; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; high-spin states; shell-model calculations; fusion-evaporation reactions; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Ekman; isospin symmetry; Mirror nuclei;

    Abstract : High-spin states in the A=35 mirror nuclei 35Ar and 35Cl and A=51 mirror nuclei 51Fe and 51Mn were populated using fusion-evaporation reactions. The gamma rays were detected in the powerful Ge arrays Gammasphere and GASP, respectively, which operated in conjunction with ancillary detectors for evaporated particles. READ MORE

  2. 2. Perceptions of Trust and National Perspectives in Multinational Crisis Management: An Examination of the European Union Military Strategic Level

    Author : Olof Ekman; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EU; OHQ; CSDP; staff; strategic; military; crisis management; trust; norms; roles; national perspectives;

    Abstract : This thesis is motivated by an increasing degree of unfamiliarity and prominence of national dimensions in multinational crisis management. The research rationale rests on the argument that trust is important but may erode when roles conflict, which in turn may result when stakeholder interests diverge. READ MORE

  3. 3. Environmental Assessment of Emerging Bio-based Production - Possibilities in a Future Bio-economy

    Author : Anna Ekman; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biorefinery; Bio-based chemicals; Life cycle assessment; Industrial biotechnology; Bio-economy;

    Abstract : The bio-economy has been put forward as a strategy to increase economic growth without this leading to increased emissions of greenhouse gases. A key concept behind the bio-economy is the increased use of biomass for applications such as the production of bio-based chemicals and materials but also an increased importance for biotechnology and biorefinery systems in the production of these products. 4. 4. Exploration of polygonal environments

    Author : Anders Ekman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Databehandling;

    Abstract : Several robotic problems involve the systematic traversal of environments, commonly called exploration. This thesis presents a strategy for exploration of finite polygonal environments, assuming a point robot that has 1) no positional uncertainty and 2) an ideal range sensor that measures range in N uniformly distributed directions in the plane. 5. 5. Hips at risk osteoporosis and prevention of hip fractures

    Author : Anna Ekman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Bone Densitometry; external hip protectors; hip fracture; mortality risk; nursing home residents; osteoporosis; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Abstract : Hip fractures are the most serious consequence of osteoporosis, and are one important cause of morbidity and mortality among the elderly. Prophylactic treatment for hip fractures are now available. Early detection of individuals with increased risk for hip fractures is therefor of great interest. READ MORE
