  1. 6. Control of permanent-magnet synchronous machines in automotive applications

    Author : Oskar Wallmark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electric drive; electric vehicle; fault tolerance; hybrid electric vehicle; inverter; in-wheel motor; loss minimization; permanent-magnet synchronous machine; phase-locked loop; position estimation; sensorless control; vector control;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design and analysis of control system structures for electric drives equipped with permanent-magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) in automotive applications. Sensorless control, meaning vector control without a mechanical rotor position sensor, is considered and a speed and position estimator of phase-locked loop type is analyzed thoroughly. READ MORE

  2. 7. The Four-Quadrant Transducer System : for Hybrid Electric Vehicles

    Author : Erik Nordlund; Chandur Sadarangani; Hans Kahlen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical engineering; Electrical Machines; Hybrid Vehicles; Elektroteknik; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis a hybrid electrical powertrain called the Four Quadrant Transducer (4QT) has been evaluated through different driving simulations, which later resulted in the manufacture of a prototype. The simulation of a 12 metric ton distribution truck showed that the 4QT system can reduce the fuel consumption by approximately 30 % during the FTP75 drive cycle. READ MORE

  3. 8. Heat-transfer simulations applied to electrical machines

    Author : Kristian Rönnberg; Christophe Duwig; Jens Walther; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy efficiency; heat transfer; electric machines; high fidelity simulation; modal analysis; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Electrification and energy efficiency are two important aspects in present scenarios describing a sustainable future. Electric motors constitute a large fractionof industry’s electricity demand today, and it is expected to remain high inthe future. READ MORE

  4. 9. FEM Analysis Applied to Electric Machines for Electric Vehicles

    Author : Juan de Santiago Ochoa; Hans Bernhoff; Marcos Lafoz Pastor; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : Electric vehicle technology is an interdisciplinary field in continuous development. It appears to be a margin for improvements. The Division for Electricity at Uppsala University is doing significant research in the field. The present thesis investigates electric machines for vehicular applications, both in the driveline and in the traction motor. READ MORE

  5. 10. Modelling the transient response of windings, laminated steel coresand electromagnetic power devices by means of lumped circuits : With special reference to windings with a coaxial insulation system

    Author : Pär Holmberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Transient response; frequency response; electromagnetic transient analysis; circuit modeling; eddy currents; skin effect; windings; coils; magnetic cores; cables; electric machines; rotating electric machines; transformers; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Electricity; Esp The Study Of Transients and Discharges; elektricitetslära; ssk studiet av transienter och urladdning;

    Abstract : Electromagnetic transients impinging on electromagnetic power devices - such as electric machines, transformers and reactors - can stress the design severely. Thus the magnitudes of the transients are often decisive for the design of the devices. Further, the operation of a device can be transient in itself. READ MORE
