  1. 1. Novel clean-up, concentration and laser desorption/ionization strategies for mass spectrometry

    Author : Mohammadreza Shariatgorji; Leopold Ilag; Juan Astorga-wells; Bernhard Spengler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; ESI-MS; SALDI-MS; Electrocapture; Sample treatment; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Despite valuable advantages of mass spectrometry (MS) techniques they still have drawbacks that need to be overcome, notably their sensitivity to various kinds of interfering substances and associated difficulties involved in detecting signals from analytes present in trace quantities. Thus, high quality analytical data could be acquired by improving sample pre-treatment techniques and/or ionization methods to increase ionization yields and/or avoid the generation of unwanted ions. 2. 2. Microfluidic Devices for Manipulation and Detection of Beads and Biomolecules

    Author : Mats Jönsson; Ulf Lindberg; Bertil Hök; Johan Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Engineering physics; sensor; micro; dielectrophoresis; impedance; electrode; beads; cell; flow; bacteria; microfabrication; biosensor; electrocapture; microfluidic; planar; Lab on chip; µTAS; micro total analysis system; QCM; dispersion; field-flow fractionation; ITO; design; fabrication; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis summarises work towards a Lab-on-Chip (LOC). The request for faster and more efficient chemical and biological analysis is the motivation behind the development of the LOC-concept. Microfluidic devices tend to become increasingly complex in order to include, e.g. READ MORE

  3. 3. Microfluidic electrocapture technology in protein and peptide analysis

    Author : Juan Astorga-Wells; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : After sequencing the genomes of several organisms, science in the postgenomic era now aims at a thorough study of the proteins present in a given tissue or organism. Since this task requires an enormous analytical effort, integrated microfluidic systems are envisioned as the solution to automated high throughput analysis of biomolecules. READ MORE

  4. 4. Microfluidic electrocapture in proteomic sample preparation for mass spectrometry

    Author : Susanne Vollmer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Proteomics is a technology-driven discipline and very labor-intensive. Over the last couple of years, methods with microfluidic systems have been used to simplify analytical procedures via integration of laboratory processes and equipment into miniaturized formats to achieve reproducible and high throughput analyses of biomolecules. 5. 5. Proteome studies, with emphasis on the kidney glomerulus

    Author : Sam Tryggvason; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Proteomics aims to link genes to protein expression and function. Proteomics is a very versatile and technology-dependent discipline and the development of mass spectrometry-based proteomics has advanced the understanding of the complex and dynamic nature of proteomes. READ MORE
