  1. 1. Nanoscaled Structures in Ruthenium Dioxide Coatings

    Author : Christine Malmgren; Håkan Olin; Joakim Bäckström; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : Bleaching chemicals; sodium chlorate; ruthenium dioxide; electrodes; crystallites; nanowires; microscopy; diffraction; electrocatalytic area; reduced energy consumption; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : An essential ingredient in the generation of environmentally compatible pulp bleaching chemicals is sodium chlorate. Chlorate is produced in electrochemical cells, where the electrodes are the key components. In Sweden the so-called DSA !R electrodes with catalytic coatings have been produced for more than 35 years. READ MORE

    Abstract : The proton exchange membrane fuel cell generates electricity from hydrogen and oxygen (from air) through electrocatalytic reactions in an electrochemical cell. The Pt/C catalyst, commonly used in PEM fuel cells, is very sensitive to impurities that can interact with the active catalyst sites and limit fuel cell performance. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nanoscaled Structures of Chlorate Producing Electrodes

    Author : Christine Hummelgård; Håkan Olin; Joakim Bäckström; Svein Sunde; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Sodium chlorate is mainly used for production of chlorine dioxide (a pulp bleaching agent). Sodium chlorate is produced by an electrochemical process where chloride ions (from sodium chloride dissolved in water) are oxidized to chlorine on the anodes and hydrogen is evolved on the cathodes. 4. 4. Nanostructured Fuel Cell Catalysts

    Author : Marie Gustavsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : Nafion; thin film evaporation; model catalyst; electrocatalyst; acetic acid oxidation; oxygen reduction; colloidal lithography; PEMFC; screening; Pt; formaldehyde oxidation; methanol oxidation; nanofabrication; CO oxidation; polymer electrolyte; TiOx;

    Abstract : A long term challenge for society is to develop sustainable energy systems to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and to decrease air pollution. This requires new alternatives regarding the supply of energy and increased efficiency of the future energy systems. Fuel cell technology is one such possible alternative. READ MORE

  5. 5. Functionalized Porous Carbon Fiber Electrodes for Applications in Electrochemical Flow Cells

    Author : Arman Molaei; Xavier Crispin; Magda Titirici; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon-based devices; Supercapacitor; Deoxygenation electrolyser; BBL polymer;

    Abstract : Corrosion of metals in close-loop cooling or heating systems originates from tiny leakages at joints releasing oxygen into the thermal fluids. The presence of dissolved oxygen (DO) in thermal fluids, such as water with various additives forms a rust coating and some rust particles are released in the fluids and accumulate in an undesired place.
