  1. 1. Cell Sorting in Pillar Arrays based on Electrokinetics and Morphology

    Author : Bao Dang Ho; NanoLund; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell Sorting; Label-Free Separation; Deterministic Lateral Displacement; Electrokinetics; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Dang Ho;

    Abstract : Deterministic Lateral Displacement (DLD) is a method capable of sorting cells based on size where mechanicalinteractions between a sufficiently large particle and obstacles in a microfludic pillar array force the particle tofollow a different trajectory than their smaller counterparts, resulting in continuous lateral separation. To extendthe capability of DLD, electrical interaction between particles and pillars can be employed to complement themechanical interaction, making electrical/dielectric properties additional parameters for sorting. 3. 3. Electrodes and Electrokinetic Systems for Biotechnological Applications

    Author : Sara Nilsson; Nathaniel D Robinson; Fredrik Björefors; Bengt Danielsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER;

    Abstract : Research in bioelectronics studies biological systems and materials in combination with electronic interfaces for the development of devices, e.g., for medical applications, drug and toxicity tests, and biotechnology in general. Neural implants and pacemakers are examples of products developed from this area of research. READ MORE

  4. 4. Deterministic Lateral Displacement for Cell Separation

    Author : Si Hoai Trung Tran; NanoLund; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Deterministic lateral displacement; Cell Separation; Open microfluidics;

    Abstract : In the fields of medicine and biology, the separation of particles is a central step in many preparative and analytical processes. Deterministic Lateral Displacement (DLD) has been a promising technique in the field of microfluidic particle and cell sorting, specifically for label-free separation with several applications of sorting by size, morphology, and deformation reported in the literature over the last decade. 5. 5. Charge Development at Iron Oxyhydroxide Surfaces : The Interplay between Surface Structure, Particle Morphology and Counterion Identity

    Author : Philipp A. Kozin; Jean-François Boily; Michael Kersten; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Iron oxyhydroxides; adsorption; mineral-water interface; electrolyte; surface roughness; pores;

    Abstract : Iron (oxyhydr)oxide (FeOOH) minerals play important roles in various natural, technological and societal settings. The widespread abundance of these minerals has prompted numerous studies on their surface reactivity in aqueous media. Surface charge development, one that namely takes place through the adsorption of potential determining ions (p.d. READ MORE
