  1. 1. Molecular Interactions and Dynamics in Lithium Conducting Electrolytes

    Author : Josefina Adebahr; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ab initio calculations; plastic crystals; nanocomposite polymer electrolytes; NMR; Raman spectroscopy; gel electrolytes; polymer electrolytes;

    Abstract : Lithium conducting electrolytes, suitable for battery applications, have been characterized on a molecular level using Raman spectroscopy, ab initio calculations and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, in order to better understand molecular and ionic interactions and dynamics in the systems. Three different types of electrolytes have been investigated; polymer gel electrolytes, solid polymer electrolytes and plastic crystal materials, with the main focus on the polymer based electrolytes. 2. 2. Fluorine-Free Ionic Liquids and Electrolytes : From Synthesis to Energy Storage Applications

    Author : Mukhtiar Ahmed; Faiz Ullah Shah; Patrik Johansson; Alexander Shaplov; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ionic Liquids; Electrolytes; Sustainability; Lithium ion batteries; Flourine-Free; Chemistry of Interfaces; Gränsytors kemi;

    Abstract : Since their introduction by Sony in 1990, lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have acquired a sizable market share. They have the best energy densities, a high open circuit voltage, a low self-discharge rate, no memory effect, and a slow loss of charge when not in use. READ MORE

  3. 3. New anions for lithium battery electrolytes

    Author : Johan Scheers; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Batteries; ab initio; electrolytes; Raman spectroscopy; anions; DFT; ionic liquids; lithium salts;

    Abstract : Energy storage is crucial to realize a new global energy paradigm based on renewable energy sources. Batteries are well suited this need, with the advantages of being mobile and potentially environmentally benign. READ MORE

    Author : Erlendur Jonsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sodium salts; ab initio; DFT; Batteries; electrolytes; lithium salts; anions;

    Abstract : Lithium-ion batteries are omnipresent in modern electronics. They can be found in laptops, mobile phones and electric vehicles. READ MORE

  5. 5. Structure and Dynamics in Ionic Liquid and Highly Concentrated Electrolytes

    Author : Filippa Lundin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ionic Liquid; Electrolytes; SAXS; Highly concentrated electrolytes; QENS;

    Abstract : The electrolyte is a crucial part of a battery in terms of longevity and safety. However, the state-of-the-art electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries are based on organic solvents and Li-salts (typically 1M concentration) and are known to be volatile and to degrade at higher temperature.
