  1. 1. Electromyography and bite force studies of muscular function and dysfunction in masticatory muscles

    Author : Catharina Hagberg; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electromyography; bite force; contraction; isometric; masticatory muscles; mastication; intramuscular injections;

    Abstract : Electromyographic (EMG) activity versus bite force was studied during a gradually increased isometric contraction up to maximal effort for patients with painful masseter muscles and referents. The masseter muscle, the anterior temporal muscle and the descending part of the trapezius muscle were chosen for the recordings. READ MORE

  2. 2. Adaptive signal processing of surface electromyogram signals

    University dissertation from Umeå : Strålningsvetenskaper

    Author : Nils Östlund; Stefan Karlsson; Jun Yu; Björn Gerdle; Leif Sörnmo; [2006]
    Keywords : Signalbehandling; electromyography; signal processing; Signalbehandling; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : Electromyography is the study of muscle function through the electrical signals from the muscles. In surface electromyography the electrical signal is detected on the skin. The signal arises from ion exchanges across the muscle fibres’ membranes. READ MORE

    Abstract : Introduction: Occupational drivers of terrain vehicles are exposed to several risk factors associated with musculoskeletal symptoms in the lower back as well as in the neck and upper limbs. Vibration has been suggested to be a main risk factor. These drivers are exposed to both whole-body vibration (WBV) and hand-arm vibration (HAV). READ MORE

  4. 4. Methods for measuring physical workload with relevance for musculoskeletal disorders of neck and upper limb

    University dissertation from Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Lund University

    Author : Gert-Åke Hansson; [2000]

    Abstract : Work-related musculoskeletal disorders of the neck and upper limb are a major problem. Women in repetitive manual work is one large affected group. Preventive actions are hampered by the lack of knowledge regarding quantitative exposure-response relations for physical workload. READ MORE

    Abstract : The objectives of this thesis were to develop a method for observation of maturational steps in preterm infants' breastfeeding behavior, test the reliability and validity of this method, describe this development and explore effects of certain infant and maternal factors on infant breastfeeding behavior. The Preterm Infant Breastfeeding Behavior Scale (PIBBS) was developed. READ MORE
