  1. 6. Electron - Ion Recombination Studies of Astrophysically Relevant Ions : Storage Ring and Electron Beam Ion Trap Based Measurements

    Author : Istvan Orban; Reinhold Schuch; Yaming Zou; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atomic processes; electron-ion recombination; plasma; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis contains experimental work that was performed at two state-of-the art devices for electron-ion collision physics, at a heavy-ion storage ring and at an Electron Beam Ion Trap. As a result, absolute recombination rate coefficients for H-like Si, He-like Si, Be-like Si, and Na-like Si, as well as Be-like Ne, Na-like S and Na-like Ar are reported over a wide energy range from μeV to keV. 2. 7. Electron - Ion Recombination Data for Plasma Applications : Results from Electron Beam Ion Trap and Ion Storage Ring

    Author : Safdar Ali; Reinhold Schuch; José R. Crespo López-Urrutia; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Highly charged ions; Atomic processes; Atomic data; Electron-ion recombination; Plasmas; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis contains results of electron-ion recombination processes in atomic ions relevant for plasma applications. The measurements were performed at the Stockholm Refrigerated Electron Beam Ion Trap (R-EBIT) and at the CRYRING heavy-ion storage ring. READ MORE

  3. 8. Optical properties of silver nanostructures prepared by electron beam lithography

    Author : Linda K Gunnarsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanoelectronics; surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy; single-electron tunneling; electron-beam lithography; nanofabrication; localized surface plasmon resonance; silver nanoparticles;

    Abstract : In this thesis, electron beam lithography (EBL) has been used to fabricate substrates for studies of nanoparticle optics, in particular for the investigation of noble metal nanoparticles and their tunable optical properties. The strong interaction of metal nanoparticles with light has its origin in the resonant excitation of collective oscillations of conduction electrons, so called localized surface plasmons (LSP). 4. 9. Process Development for Electron Beam Melting of 316LN Stainless Steel

    Author : Stefan Roos; Lars-Erik Rännar; Andrei Koptioug; Jonas Danvind; Lars Pejryd; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; additive manufacturing; beam deflection rate; electron beam melting; energy input; material properties; microstructure; powder bed fusion; process parameters; 316LN stainless steel;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) is a technology that inverts the procedure of traditional machining. Instead of starting with a billet of material and removing unwanted parts, the AM manufacturing process starts with an empty workspace and proceeds to fill this workspace with material where it is desired, often in a layer-by-layer fashion. 5. 10. Electron beam profile measurements and emittance manipulation at the MAX-laboratory

    Author : Åke Andersson; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optics; quantum excitation; emittance; synchrotron radiation; electron beam; lattice; Accelerator; storage ring; diffraction; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The emittances of the electron beams at the MAX-laboratory accelerator system have been studied. Apart from the build-up of the diagnostic tools for precise determination of the beam spatial profiles, the objectives have been: a) to verify the accelerator design emittances at low currents and to try to determine the emittances also at high currents; b) to investigate possibilities to manipulate the emittances.
