11. Waves and instabilities in quantum plasmas
Abstract : The study of waves and instabilities in quantum plasmas is of fundamental importance for understanding collective interactions in superdense astrophysical objects, in high intense laser-plasma/solid-matter interactions, in microelectronic devices and metallic nanostructures. In dense quantum plasmas, there are new pressure laws associated with the Fermi-Dirac distribution functions and new quantum forces associated with the quantum Bohm potential and the Bohr magnetization involving electron ½ spin. 12. Space Plasma Dynamics : Instabilities, Coherent Vortices and Covariant Parametrization
Abstract : The magnetospheric cusps are two funnel-like regions of Earth's magnetosphere where solar wind plasma can have direct access to the ionosphere. The cusps are very dynamic regions where wave-particle interactions continuously take place and redistribute energy among different particle populations. READ MORE

13. Stability and Statistical Analysis of Transient Waves in Fusion Plasmas
Abstract : Thermonuclear energy generation in magnetically confined plasmas offers an appealing energy source for coming generations. Some of the still unsolved problems in fusion plasma physics involve plasma transport and stability of plasma waves. Two such problems are addressed in the present thesis. READ MORE

14. Dynamics and Fluctuations in Single-Electron Tunneling Devices
Abstract : In recent years, it has been routinely achieved to build nanoscale electronic devices, which generate current pulses carrying only a single elementary charge. Realizations of these single-electron emitters are based on time-dependently driven quantum dots, on single-electron turnstiles built from superconductor/normal-metal hybrid structures, and also on nanosystems employing Lorentzian voltage pulses or surface acoustic waves. 15. Laser-Driven Plasma Waves for Particle Acceleration and X-ray Production
Abstract : This thesis presents experimental results related to laser plasma accelerators. These rely on very different principles from conventional particle accelerators. READ MORE
