  1. 16. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells

    Author : Vasile Coman; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cellobiose dehydrogenase; direct electron transfer; mediated electron transfer; self-assembled monolayer; flow injection analysis; amperometric biosensor; E. coli; succinate:quinone reductase; biofuel cell; B. subtilis; whole-cell biosensor;

    Abstract : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed.     Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron transfer; Ultrafast; Long-range; Intervalence charge transfer; cross conjugation; hyperconjugation; Physical Chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Detailed understanding of electron transfer reactions is important in many aspects of chemistry, biology and solar energy conversion.The main aim of this thesis is to provide further insight into electron transfer through highly conjugated bridge structures. READ MORE

  3. 18. Influence of Bridge Structures on the Electron Transfer in Donor-Acceptor Systems

    Author : Mikael Winters; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular wire; electron transfer; porphyrin; conjugated oligomer;

    Abstract : In this Thesis, porphyrin-based donor-acceptor systems have been used to study photoinduced electron transfer processes. Principally, two different sets of systems have been investigated. READ MORE

  4. 19. Microbial Electrochemical System: extracellular electron transfer from photosynthesis and respiration to electrode

    Author : Kamrul Hasan; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biological photovoltaics; electron transfer; electrode; Rhodobacter capslatus; thylakoid membranes; cyanobacteria; algae; photosynthesis; light; photocurrent; electrochemistry;

    Abstract : The electrochemical communication between microorganisms and electrodes has substantial implications both for basic understanding of biological electron transfer as well as in diverse applications, such as, microbial electrochemical system (MES), microbial biosensors and in production of valuable chemicals. In these systems the extracellular electron transfer (EET) from microbial metabolism to electrodes is restricted due to the insulated cellular exterior made of lipid structures. READ MORE

  5. 20. Synthesis of Covalently Linked Diporphyrins: Model Compounds for Intramolecular Energy and Electron Transfer

    Author : Johan Kajanus; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; donor-bridge-acceptor systems; Sonogashira reaction; electron transfer; porphyrin; palladium; model compound; energy transfer;

    Abstract : Three series of donor-bridge-acceptor compounds have been synthesized to probe the influence of various bridge chromophores on energy and electron transfer. The donor-bridge-acceptor compounds in each series comprise two different porphyrins, acting as donor and acceptor, covalently linked by bridge chromophores. READ MORE
