  1. 16. Electronic, Transport, and Optical Properties of Broken-Gap Heterostructures

    Author : Karin Nilsson; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; relaxation; magnetic resonance; supraconductors; magnetic and optical properties; k.p calculations; Condensed matter:electronic structure; electrical; interband transport; electron-hole hybridization; spin polarization; spectroscopy; spektroskopi; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; egenskaper elektriska; magnetiska och optiska ; supraledare; magnetisk resonans;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the physical properties of broken-gap heterostructures using a multiband k.p model and self-consistent calculations. Broken-gap heterostructures, made from InAs, GaSb, and AlSb, are characterized by a special band alignment with an overlap between the InAs conduction band and the GaSb valence band. READ MORE

  2. 17. Modelling of Quantum Transport in Nanostructures

    Author : Dan Csontos; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ballistic transport; quantum wire; quantum dot; resonant tunnelling; three-terminal; disorder; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Csontos; scattering matrix; quantum transport;

    Abstract : In this thesis, theoretical studies of the transport properties of three nanoscale systems: one-dimensional (1D) quantum wires (QWRs), zero-dimensional (0D), laterally confined, double-barrier resonant tunnelling structures (DBRTSs) and three-terminal ballistic junctions (TBJs), have been performed. In the first part of the thesis, an overview of the realization and properties of such systems is given along with a description of modelling tools used in the calculations. READ MORE

    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SiGe; Esaki Diodes; classical mechanics; quantum mechanics; relativity; termodynamik; relativitet; kvantmekanik; statistisk fysik; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; gravitation; statistical physics; GaAs; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; Resonant Tunneling Permeable Base Transistors; Resonant Tunneling Diodes; klassisk mekanik; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Lind;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns different kinds of tunneling based devices all showing negative differential resistance. The thesis is divided in three parts, resonant tunneling transistors, Esaki diodes and coupled zero dimensional systems. READ MORE

  4. 19. Charge Transport in Single-crystalline CVD Diamond

    Author : Markus Gabrysch; Jan Isberg; Mats Leijon; Milos Nesladek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : CVD diamond; wide-bandgap semiconductor; single-crystalline diamond; carrier transport; time-of-flight; drift velocity; mobility; compensation; pair-creation; electronic devices; diamond detector; diamond diode;

    Abstract : Diamond is a semiconductor with many superior material properties such as high breakdown field, high saturation velocity, high carrier mobilities and the highest thermal conductivity of all materials. These extreme properties, as compared to other (wide bandgap) semiconductors, make it desirable to develop single-crystalline epitaxial diamond films for electronic device and detector applications. 5. 20. Transport Analytics Based on Cellular Network Signalling Data

    Author : David Gundlegård; Johan M. Karlsson; Tommy Svensson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Cellular networks of today generate a massive amount of signalling data. A large part of this signalling is generated to handle the mobility of subscribers and contains location information that can be used to fundamentally change our understanding of mobility patterns. READ MORE
